Hubickova and Coache Represent SNHU with Major Awards.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the second time in her career, Southern New Hampshire senior Magdalena Hubickova has been selected the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Vern Cox Player of the Year, as the league announced its All-Conference award honorees on Thursday afternoon.

Joining Hubickova as a major award winner was SNHU's Greg Coache, the NE10 Coach of the Year, who led the Penmen to their first standalone NE10 regular season title since the 2013 season. Adelphi's Sanne Selmer Gilje earns NE10 Rookie of the Year honors in the same season that she won the 2022 ITA Division II East Region Women's Singles Championship.

SNHU led all NE10 program with six student-athletes earning nine All-Conference honors, while Le Moyne had five student-athletes win six awards and Franklin Pierce had five student-athletes take home five awards. All-Conference teams are broken into singles and doubles flights.

Hubickova, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, wins her second Vern Cox Player of the Year honor in three seasons after posting an 8-1 record at No. 1 singles. She joins Alena Mukdaprakorn and Amber Chandronnait as the only Penmen to win multiple Player of the Year honors and it marks the third-straight season that a SNHU student-athlete has won the award (Hubickova in 2021 spring, Natalie Kallmunzerova in 2021 fall). Hubickova also earned First Team All-Conference at No 1 singles and Second Team All-Conference at No. 1 doubles with partner Alexxa Etienne.

Selmer Gilje is the first Adelphi player since Stefani Lineva in 2014 to win NE10 Rookie of the Year honors. Gilje, a Second Team selection at No. 1 singles and All-Rookie Team member, was 4-1 this season at the top individual flight for the Panthers. In late September, Gilje became the first Adelphi student-athlete to win the ITA East Region title and recently competed at the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga.

Coache, now in his 16th season as head coach of SNHU, led the Penmen to a perfect 9-0 record in NE10 matches – their first undefeated conference season since 2013, when they last held sole possession of the NE10 regular season championship. It is the sixth time that Coache has earned NE10 Coach of the Year honors. SNHU is the top seed in the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship, which continues on Friday in the semifinal round.

Among SNHU's selections were first-year player Alina Kupfer, who earned First Team at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. The Penmen had a league-best four players named to the First Team, including Guntra Upeniece at No. 6 singles. Overall, 13 NE10 student-athletes earned All-Conference recognition at both singles and doubles.

The NE10 Women's Tennis Championship continues on Friday with the semifinals, as No. 1 SNHU hosts No. 5 Adelphi and No. 2 Franklin Pierce welcomes No. 3 Le Moyne. For the full schedule and all other championship information, click HERE.
