American International Wins First NE10 Championships Since 2016
JAMESVILLE, N.Y. - Led by a 1-2 finish from freshman Ezra Mutai and senior Benoit Campion, the American International College men's cross country team won its first Northeast-10 Conference Championship since 2016 on Sunday, October 26.
The title was the first for the Yellow Jackets since they won three straight from 2014-16, taking it with 39 points as all five runners placed in the top 20. Mutai once again cruised to an easy win, defeating everyone by over a minute. Teammate Benoit Campion took second, followed by Le Moyne's Chris Davitt, who finished third in 27:23, a full 1:20 behind Mutai. This also marked the 11th consecutive year an AIC runner won the individual 8K race.
Stonehill earned a runner-up finish with 79 points and a sixth place finish from Lucas Taxter, just edging defending champion Southern Connecticut who was third with 85 points. Franklin Pierce placed fourth with 89 points while Southern New Hampshire (96) and Assumption (145) rounded out the top six.
Franklin Pierce's Riley Fenoff was honored at the Elite 24 award winner, as the sophomore owns a 4.0 GPA.
