Stonehill Claims 11th consective NE10 Title as four runners finish in the top eight
JAMESVILLE, N.Y. - Stonehill claimed its 11th consecutive Northeast-10 Cross Country Championship on Sunday and 18th overall, as its four runners each placed in the top eight overall to secure the victory.
The Skyhawks finished with 36 points as its first five runners placed in the top-12, more than doubling up second place Southern New Hampshire who had 74 points. The Penmen earned their first-ever runner-up finish and were led by individual runner-up Ashley Corcoran (23:37.2). Saint Anselm secured its first top-three finish since 2002 with 134 points, just edging out Adelphi (142), Assumption (147) and Franklin Pierce (162).
Assumption senior Kialeigh Marston won the 6K race by more than ten seconds with her time of 23:27.0, followed by Corcoran and Samantha Curtin from Stonehill. Marston is the first Greyhound to win an NE10 individual cross country title. Katie Olding of AIC and Saint Anselm's Christine Toy rounded out the top five.
Franklin Pierce sophomore Alena Masterson was named the Elite 24 award winner, with the highest GPA of any student-athlete at the NE10 Championship, as she owns a 4.0 GPA.
