NE10 Cross Country Report: Week 2

Week 2 - September 21, 2021

NE10 Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Wondu Summa, Franklin Pierce
Sophomore | Burlington, Vt.

Set a new program five-mile record on Saturday, with a time of 24:42, which was good for eighth place in a 256-runner field at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. Led the Ravens to a fourth-place finish, out of 33 teams.


NE10 Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Bethaney Donnelly, Franklin Pierce
Graduate Student | Manchester, United Kingdom

Donnelly set a new program 5k record on Saturday, as she turned in a time of 17:47 to place third, out of 234 runners, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. She led the Ravens to a 16th-place finish, out of 30 teams.

NE10 Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Nora Conway, Saint Anselm
Freshman | Stoneham, Mass.

Freshman Nora Conway once again led the Hawks this past week at the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational, posting a 5K time of 18:55 to place 15th in the field and third overall among first-year harriers. Racing in a crowded field of 30 teams spanning NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, the regionally-ranked Hawks finished fourth as a team in the 30-team race.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Noah Taracena, Saint Michael's (So. - Hampton, N.H.)
Sophomore Noah Taracena (Hampton, N.H.) recorded his second straight seventh-place finish on Saturday, clocking in at 27:44.8 during Middlebury's Aldrich Invitational. He placed behind only six runners from Middlebury, which received votes toward the latest USTFCCCA Division III national poll. Saint Michael's placed second among five teams.

Terrell Patterson, Southern Connecticut St. (Sr. - Waterbury, Conn.)
Patterson finished in 13th place out of 117 competing runners in the 8k at the Iona Meet of Champions with a time of 26:12.7. Patterson was mainly racing against student-athletes from Division I schools Temple, Monmouth, Rutgers, Quinnipiac, LIU, and Fairfield.

Megan Whitnell, Southern Connecticut St. (Fr. - Litchfield, N.H.)
Whitnell finished in 44th place out of 115, but 15th among freshmen, in the 5k at the Iona Meet of Champions with a personal-best time of 20:07.2.

Shane Braz, Stonehill (Sr. - Peabody, Mass.)
Braz led the way for the East Region No. 4 Skyhawks at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational by finishing 49th out of 256 runners overall by completing the five mile course in 26:00.16.

Claire Mason, Stonehill (Sr. - East Lyme, Conn.)
Led the East Region No. 5-ranked Skyhawks with a 14th place finish out of 234 runners competing at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. Completed the five kilometer course in 18:53.40 for the highest individual finish of her collegiate career.
