FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 28, 2015
MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced its Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2014 semester this morning, and approximately 58 percent of all Northeast-10 student-athletes posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
3,444 student-athletes received Commissioner’s Honor Roll
(CHR) recognition for the fall semester, an improvement of nearly
200 from last year's total. To see each school's list of those that
were honored, please see the links below.
The Northeast-10 CHR program recognizes the conference’s
student-athletes for their achievements within the classroom. In
order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met
or exceeded a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the fall
semester.
Bentley University led the 15 Northeast-10 member institutions
with 360 student-athletes recognized for this honor. Bentley also
had the higest percentage of fall sport student-athletes awarded,
with 74% of Falcons achieving the honor.
Stonehill College (279), Franklin Pierce University (276),
Assumption College (265), and Merrimack College (264) all had more
than 250 student-athletes recognized.
Twelve of the conference’s fifteen members had percentages
of student-athletes on the CHR above 50 percent, while eight,
including Bentley, had 60-percent or better honored.
Adelphi University (68%), Saint Michael's College (67%),
Southern New Hampshire University (67%), Franklin Pierce (66%), Le
Moyne College (64%), Stonehill (64%) and The College of Saint Rose
(63%) all topped the 60-percent threshold.
Among those honored, 164 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0
GPA for the fall semester. That number is 44 student-athletes
more than were awarded a 4.0 from the same time a year ago - an
increase of 37%.
So. New Hampshire had 21 student-athletes receive a 4.0, while
American International College had 19, and Merrimack had 17.
By sport, football had the highest number of student-athletes
selected (309), followed by baseball (295 - an increase of 67 from
the spring semester), women’s soccer (290) and men's lacrosse
(252).
The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.
Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference
championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII
conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading
the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community,
the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the
experience it provides student-athletes.
