Hi everyone. My name is Brittany Lepore and I'm a sophomore at Franklin Pierce University where I play for the field hockey team.
In late August, our team began to prepare for the 2012 season. With nine freshmen coming in, we knew we were a very young team, but that does not limit the amount of talent we brought onto our team this year.
Our first game we knew was going to be very challenging, but we had to begin the season somewhere, and why not with some good competition in Adelphi? We were excited and prepared for this rivalry and you could see it from the second we even walked on the field.
Our warm up looked good, we were full of energy and ready to go out there and leave everything we had on the field. It was a long drive and we all knew we weren't getting back on the bus without a win. It wasn't in regulation, but we came away with an overtime win when Sara Michaels put away her second goal of the game.
Our second game was our home opener against Assumption. We were excited to finally begin games on our home turf and to show our school what FPUFH was all about. We played hard throughout a very long game, double overtime. Halfway through double overtime, Courtney Kelly took a pass from Sara and put one away for Pierce’s victory.
Conference games begin this Saturday, the 22nd of September. We need to win the ones that count now.
I will have more for all of you soon!
