EMBRACE Campaign - Original Announcement
NE10 Institutions Continue to EMBRACE All Areas of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Five years ago on Thursday, the Northeast-10 Conference announced its bold new vision for the future – a vision that was meant to encapsulate every component of the student-athlete and intercollegiate athletics experience – and it centered around one emphatically-spelled word: "EMBRACE."
The NE10, in conjunction with leading brand development firm SME, launched a comprehensive new brand platform on Dec. 1, 2016, which included a new identity system and focused on refreshing the existing logo and moniker. Through a 15-month development process, the Conference clarified its beliefs and identified characteristics that it stands for, above all others.
Just like that, the EMBRACE campaign was born.
"This launch and subsequent campaign is the perfect way for our Conference to embrace everything that's great about the Division II student-athlete experience in the NE10," said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert at the time of the announcement.
"The NE10 brand represents far more than sports, championships or individual academic and athletic success. It is a unifier; a source of pride that connects each of our member school's students, alumni and communities together as we collectively embrace the NE10," added Ruppert. "The heart of our platform is a reflection of our student-athletes' hard work and excellence in the classroom, community and field of play. They represent the best of college athletics."
The introduction of the #NE10EMBRACE campaign, as it is referred to on social media platforms, was intended to foster universal buy-in from all of the NE10's constituents regarding the Conference and its overall contributions to the Division II experience. Five years later, the campaign's success speaks for itself.
Since December of 2016, the NE10 has had many athletic accomplishments – including 15 NCAA Division II National Championships (six team, nine individual) – and academic accomplishments – boasting the highest Academic Success Rate (ASR) in Division II in each of the past five years. In the community, NE10 institutions continue to be strong partners with Team IMPACT and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Five headlines capture the EMBRACE campaign's mission, as it relates to student-athletes and their outstanding commitment on and off the playing surface: "All In to Stand Out", "Our Character Remains Undefeated", "Earning It Every Day", "Where Student Comes Before Athlete" and "Our Edge is Well-Rounded."
NE10 student-athletes will be sharing their perspective on each EMBRACE headline throughout the remainder of the academic year, including some of their own personal experiences where they embraced the Conference's commitment to overall excellence in athletics, academics and the community. The NE10 is an association of 14 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.
Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 24 sports, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship.
