Nominees Announced for Northeast-10 Woman of the Year

South Easton, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference has announced the 15 institutional nominees for the 2011 Northeast-10 Woman of the Year Award, which is selected by the Senior Woman Administrator Council (SWA). The winner will automatically be put forward as the conference's nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year.

The nominees include, Adelphi University's Hilary Pavels (Volleyball), American International College's Lauren Silva (Field Hockey), Assumption College's Molly Griffiths (Basketball), Bentley University's Anne Kaduboski (Swimming), Franklin Pierce University's Jordan Baillargeron (field hockey and lacrosse), Le Moyne College's Courtnea Coryea (basketball), The University of Massachusetts Lowell's Brianne Bozzella (Soccer), The University of New Haven's Shannon Gagne (Track and Field), Pace University's Brittany Huggins (Basketball), Saint Anselm College'sElizabeth Trafton (Softball), Saint Michael's College's Deahna Giguere (Tennis), The College of Saint Rose'sKelly Guerin (Soccer), Southern Connecticut State University's Logan Lentz (Basketball), Southern New Hampshire University'sAmber Chandronnait (Tennis), and Stonehill College'sEmily Rousseau (Basketball).

The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors senior student-athletes for their collective collegiate achievements in service, leadership, athletics and academics. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics (CWA) receives nominations from each conference in Division I, II and III.

All conference nominees from the three divisions are forwarded to the Woman of the Year selection committee in which the committee then will select the top ten winners from each division. From among those 30 honorees, the selection committee will determine the top three in each division. Finally, the members of the CWA will vote from the top nine to determine the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year.

Last year's Northeast-10 Women of the Year winners were Bentley's Alyssa Sliney and Franklin Pierce's Johannah Leedham.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
