Burlington, Vt. – The Northeast-10
Conference and the conference's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA)
council selected the College of Saint Rose as the recipient of the
2009-2010 David R. Brunk Award honoring Institution Sportsmanship.
The award was presented Monday evening at the conference's end of
the year awards banquet in Burlington, Vt.
The David R. Brunk Award honors the institution that best demonstrates sportsmanship throughout their athletic programs during the course of the academic year.
Throughout the 2009-2010 academic year, the Northeast-10 awarded one team from each of its 23 championship sports with the 'Team Sportsmanship Award' at the end of each season's championship segment.
The 'Team Sportsmanship Award' is presented to the team that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class.
Saint Rose received the 'Team Sportsmanship Award' in the sports of men's cross country, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field.
Last year, Assumption College was selected as the award recipient. Previous winners include Stonehill College (2008) and Saint Anselm College (2007).
With 16 member institutions the Northeast-10 shares the distinction of being the largest Division II conference in the country along with the PSAC and WVIAC. Its 23 championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II conference.
