Coaches Pick Co-Players of the Year in DaLuze and Rogers

South Easton, Mass. For the first time in the awards ten-year existence, two players share the Northeast-10 Field Hockey Player of the Year title. Senior midfielder Joanna DaLuze of the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Mary Rogers, a junior forward for Bentley College, have been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Co-Players of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.

DaLuze played a key role in helping the River Hawks outscore their opponents 58-21 this year. Leading UMass Lowell to a 17-2 overall record and to its third consecutive Northeast-10 postseason appearance, DaLuze's team won its first-ever regular season title in the Northeast-10 since joining the league in 2000. A two-time all conference player, DaLuze finished the regular season with 20 points on seven goals and six assists. A native of Harwich, Mass., DaLuze is the second River Hawk in program history to receive this award.

A native of Watertown, Mass., Rogers is the sixth Falcon in program history to bring home the Player of the Year honor. No stranger to NE-10 season-ending accolades, she was the 2003 Northeast-10 Field Hockey Freshman of the Year and is a three-time first team All-Conference selection. In 2005, she leads the conference with a league-high 56 points. Of her conference best 23 goals, 20 were tallied in league games and seven were deemed game winners for the Falcons, who finished third in the Northeast-10 with a 15-4 overall record.

Stonehill College midfielder Kerri Sullivan, a Goffstown, N.H. native, took home the Freshman of the Year award. Sullivan is just the third Stonehill player to earn the top newcomer award since the conference began sponsoring field hockey in 1996.

Claiming sole possession of this years Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year title is Southern Connecticut State University's Cori Krajewski of Carmel, N.Y., who shared the accolade in 2004 with Bentleys Kerry Kopec. Amy Larrabee from Merrimack College was selected as the 2005 Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year.

UMass Lowell's Shannon Hlebichuk was named Coach of the Year, making it her third straight appointment.

The Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team included DaLuze of UMass Lowell and teammates Courtney Hill, Sara Hohenberger and Josselyn Mroz; Rogers of Bentley; Krajewski of Southern Connecticut and teammate Cathy Cardini; Maureen Burns of Bryant University; Kelly Latendresse, Julie Michalos and Lindsay Breen of Stonehill College; and Larrabee of Merrimack.

The Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team included Bentley's Amanda Deppe, Janessa Perreault and Lindsay Harrington; Merrimack's Kristen Belair; UMass Lowell's Kim Villare and Nicole Staiti; Saint Michaels Johanne Skelley and Meg McCarthy; Stonehill's Caitlin Gleason and Courtney Campbell; and Southern Connecticut's Carlie McDermott.
