Northeast-10 Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Torrey Price, Stonehill (So., Sleepy Hollow, NY) - Broke own
school record in winning the 55 meters at the Northeast-10
Championships with a time of 6.36 and added a second place finish
in the 200 meters with a time of 22.61.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Symone Wong, Southern Connecticut (So., Laurelton, NY) –
Finished first in the 55-meter dash (7.08), and the 200-meter dash
(25.76). Was also part of the winning 4X400 relay team (4:06.00) at
the Northeast-10 Championships.
Northeast-10 Men’s Track Freshman of the Week
Josh Andrews, Stonehill (Fr., Chelmsford, MA) – The 2007
Northeast-10 Co-Freshman of the Year, captured first place in the
5,000 meters at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of
15:41.23 and was part of the winning 4 X 800 relay team's time of
8:00.95.
Northeast-10 Women’s Co-Track Freshman of the Week
Barbara Powell, Bentley (Fr., Granby, MA) - Finished third in the
1,000 meters at the Northeast-10 championships, with a time of
3:01.74. Was also a part of the winning 4x800 relay team, running
the final leg. Helped team to a time of 9:54.07 and a winning
margin of 4.87 seconds.
Bridget DeVincent, Stonehill (Fr., Attleboro, MA) - Was part of
the winning distance medley relay team at the Northeast-10
Championships that posted a time of 12:58.80 and added a third
place performance in the mile with a time of 5:20.12.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Kevin Taylor, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Bristol, CT) – Took
first in the long jump with a distance of 7.25 meters at the
Northeast-10 Championships. Was named Championship Most Valuable
Athlete.
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Merlene Egbert, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Danbury, CT) –
Finished first in the long jump (5.80), the triple jump (12.03),
and in the high jump (1.60) at the Northeast-10 Championships. Was
named Championship Most Valuable Athlete.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Caitlyn Clark, Assumption (PG, Worcester, MA) - Won the 3,000-Meters (10:38.07) and was part of the distance medley team that finished second at the Northeast-10 Championships (13:16.56).
Joe Kowalczyk, Assumption (Gr., Wilbraham, MA) - Finished third
in the shot put with a throw of 49’ 9.25” in the
Northeast-10 Championships to qualify for the New England
Invitational.
Brooke Perron, Assumption (Jr., Hubbardston, MA) – Finished
second in the 800 meters (2:22.18) and was part of the second place
distance medley relay team (13:16.56) at the Northeast-10
Championships.
Dan Darcy, Bentley (Fr., Sharon, MA) - Finished second in the 1000
meters at the Northeast-10 Conference championships, with a time of
2:32.84, placing him behind only Keith Gill of Stonehill. Also
helped with a third place finish in the 4x800 relay with a time of
8:16.29.
Samantha Robbins, Bentley (Jr., Franklin, MA) - Captured the
Northeast-10 championship in the mile, posting a winning time of
5:16.01. Also helped win the 4x800 relay with a time of
9:54.07.
Haley Catarius, UMass Lowell (Fr., Marshfield, MA) - Named the
Northeast-10 Conference Freshman Athlete of the Year and captured
the 800 meters championship with a time of 2:21.14.
Christina DaLomba, UMass Lowell (So., Marstons Mills, MA) - Won
the Northeast-10 Conference 1,000 meters championship with a time
of 2:59.38.
Chris Forbes, UMass Lowell (Fr., Methuen, MA) - Placed second in
the mile at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship with a time of
4:22.97. Also ran a leg on UML's 4X800 meter relay team, which took
second in 8:03.20.
Toni-Marie Henry, UMass Lowell (Sr., Springfield, MA) - Named the
Northeast-10 Female Track Athlete of the Year, competing in four
events at the NE-10 Championship. Highlighted the meet with
second-place finishes in the 55 meter dash (7.32), 200 meter dash
(25.83) and the triple jump (38' 7.0''); and a third-place showing
in the long jump (17' 5.5''.)
Rocky LeFort, UMass Lowell (Jr., Nashua, NH) - Captured the
Northeast-10 conference shot put title with a throw of 50'
10.75''.
Nicole Plante, UMass Lowell (Sr., North Adams, MA) - Won the
Northeast-10 Conference 5,000 meters championship with a time of
18:07.58.
Corilynn Smith, UMass Lowell (Jr., Georgetown, MA) - Won the
Northeast-10 Conference 500 meters championship with a time of
1:17.96.
Gary Pope, Southern Connecticut (So., Brooklyn, NY) – Won
the Northeast-10 Conference 400 meters championship with a time of
3:25.36 and was part of the winning 4X400 relay team (3:25.36).
Dana Burbank, Stonehill (Sr., North Andover, MA) - Won the high
jump at the Northeast-10 Championships with a mark of 6 feet, 4 3/4
inches.
Keith Gill, Stonehill (Jr., Brockton, MA) - Won the 1,000 meters
at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of 2:30.39 and was
part of the winning 4 X 800 relay team's time of 8:00.95.
Derek Hebert, Stonehill (Sr., Rockland, MA) - Captured top honors
in the 500 meters at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of
1:06.42 and was part of the winning 4 X 800 relay team's time of
8:00.95.
Joe Ryan, Stonehill (Jr., Chelmsford, MA) - Won the 3,000 meters
at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of 8:51.40 and was
part of the winning 4 X 800 relay team's time of 8:00.95.
Weekly Notes: ASSUMPTION:
Assumption had several members of their indoor track and field team
record career-bests in the Northeast-10 Championships last Friday.
Post-graduate Joe Kolawczyk (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) threw the
shot put a career-high 49’ 9.25” to qualify for next
weekend’s New England Invitational. Junior Brian Caccavale
(Hopedale, MA/Hopedale) had a career-best jump of 6’
2.75” in the high jump; freshman Brendan Danaher (West
Hartford, CT/Northwest Catholic) finished his 1,000-meter race with
a personal best time of 2:57.01; and sophomore Ian Ferguson
(Haverhill, MA/Maynard) ran a career-best 4:41.33 in the mile. On
the women’s side, junior Brooke Perron (Hubbardston,
MA/Quabbin) ran a personal-best 2:22.18 in the 800 meters,
finishing second; freshman Elaine Haapanen (Marlboro, MA/Marlboro)
ran a career-best 3:31.09 in the 1,000 meter race; and freshman
Shauna DiCecca (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) threw the shot put a
career-best 31’ 8”. STONEHILL: The
Skyhawk men posted their highest team score and finish ever with
140 points as the runner-up to Southern Connecticut at the
Northeast-10 Championships, as six individuals took top honors in
their respective events, led by freshman Josh Andrews (Chelmsford,
Mass.), the 2007 league co-Freshman of the Year who won the 5,000
meters...The Skyhawk women matched their highest finish ever at the
conference indoor championships with a third place performance,
capturing the distance medley relay with a time of 12:58.80.
