Easton, Mass. – Sophomore All-American Corey Thomas has been named the East Region Male Field Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association and headlines a list of eight from the men's track and field team to collect All-East Region honors from the organization.

Thomas earned All-East Region honors for both the high jump and 60-meter hurdles. The USTFCCCA has named All-Region honorees for indoor track & field in Division II for the first time this winter. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three have earned the All-Region distinction.

Thomas, who earned USTFCCCA East Region Field Athlete of the Year honors for both the indoor and outdoor seasons as a freshman, is ranked second nationally for the high jump and fifth in the 60-meter high hurdles entering this weekend's NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.

He has earned Northeast-10 Conference Male Athlete of the Year honors for the second-straight year for the indoor season and captured NE-10 titles for the high jump and 55-meter hurdles this winter, while finishing as runner-up at the New England Championships for the high jump and third in the 60-meter hurdles to collect All-New England honors for both for the second-straight year.

Thomas cleared 7-feet, 1.75-inches in winning the high jump at the Boston University Valentine's Invitational on February 12, besting his previous Division II-high jump for the season at that point by three quarters of an inch. The height is now good for second nationally in Division II. Thomas broke his own school-record in the 60-meter high hurdles at the New England Championships two weeks ago, clocking in at 8.12-seconds in the finals.

He is registered in at fifth nationally with a converted time of 8.01-seconds from his NE-10 Championship record time of 7.48-seconds at 55-meters. He earned All-East Region honors for both events.

Thomas has won the high jump in seven of the eight events he participated in and won the hurdles five times this winter. He enjoyed a record-breaking indoor season as a freshman at Stonehill, qualifying for the NCAA Championships for both the high jump and 60-meter hurdles. He earned All-America honors with his third-place finish in the high jump (6'11.5") in Albuquerque, N.M.

Thomas posted the top indoor high jump in Division II last winter, clearing a program-record 7'2.25" to win the New England Indoor Championship. He also established the program-record for the 55-meter hurdles with his time of 7.45-seconds in placing second at the New England Championships, ranking third nationally for that event entering the Indoor Championships.
