New Haven, Conn. – Junior Selasi Lumax of the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team has been named the 2011 East Regional Track Athlete of the Year, as it was announced today by the USTFCCCA.

In addition, head coach John Wallin was tabbed as the Regional Coach of the Year.

Lumax has enjoyed a phenomenal indoor campaign to date. The returning All-American has the top entering time in the 800 meters (1:49.47) at the NCAA Championships, has run the anchor leg on the Owls' fifth-ranked 4x400-meter relay, and also competed on the third-ranked distance medley relay squad. Lumax also won the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference championship in the 1,000 meters.

Wallin led the Owls to the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference title – the program's 17th straight league title and ninth in a row indoors, a New York Metropolitan Championship – the first in school history - and a third-place finish at the New England Championships. The Owls are currently ranked No. 8 in the nation as a team and will have representation in six events at the NCAA Championships.
