Northeast-10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Ramon Laboy, Southern Connecticut (Gr., Danbury, CT) - At the IC4A championships at Princeton, set a Southern Connecticut record with a time of 9:01.19 to place second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His time is the third fastest in NCAA Division II this season.
Northeast-10 Women's Co-Track Athletes of the Week
Thatcha DaCosta, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Englewood, NJ) - Was part of the second place team in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.12 at the New England Championships. The junior also placed second in the Triple Jump (39-3.75) and fifth in the Long Jump (18-3.75) as the Owls took fourth place at the championship.
Nicole Plante, UMass Lowell (Jr., North Adams, MA) - Placed second in the 3,000 meters, shattered her own school record and posted the third-fastest time in the country at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Princeton. The sole Division II runner in the field, ran the course in 9:42.34.
Northeast-10 Men's Track Freshman of the Week
Torrey Price, Stonehill (Fr., Sleepy Hollow, NY) - Earned a pair of all-New England honors at the 2006 New England Championships. Placed seventh in the 100 meters (10.94) and was a part of the seventh place 4 X 100 relay team (43.03).
Northeast-10 Women's Track Freshman of the Week
Rebecca Ciccarelli, Bentley (Fr., Natick, MA) - At the New Englands, improved on her personal best in the 200 by 0.82 seconds with a time of 26.10 seconds. Won her heat, finished 12th overall in a 25-runner field and was second amongst Division II runners.
Northeast-10 Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Ivan Schmidt, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Bridgeport, CT) - Became the first athlete in Southern history to win two career titles at the IC4A championships at Princeton University. Won the high jump for the second time in his career with a mark of six feet, 11.75 inches.
Northeast-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Randi Cuccaro, Southern Connecticut (Gr., Oxford, CT) - Took first in the javelin with a best mark of 137-11 while improving her previous NCAA provisional performance. Led the Owls to a fourth place finish at the New England Championships this past weekend.
Northeast-10 Men's Field Freshman of the Week
Anthony Roberson, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Hamden, CT) - At the New England outdoor championships at MIT, Roberson won the high jump with a height of six feet, six inches.
Northeast-10 Women's Field Freshman of the Week
Rachel Martinich, Bryant (Fr., Fairfield, CT) - Set a new school record in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 132 feet, 5 inches at Saturday's New England Championships. Placed her third overall in the event.

BENTLEY: At the New Englands, freshman Rebecca Ciccarelli (Natick, Mass.) set a personal record in the 200 meters by 0.82 seconds with a time of 23.10 seconds, and classmate Melissa Nash (Marshfield, Mass.) posted an outdoor PR in the 5,000 by 18 seconds (18:29.16)… BRYANT: The Bryant women's team set two new school records at Saturday's New England Championships where the Bulldogs finished 27th overall in team scoring. Freshman Rachel Martinich (Fairfield, CT) set a new school record in the javelin with a mark of 132-5 to finish third overall. Nicole Radzik (Sutton, MA) placed 23rd in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase in a school record hand time of 12 minutes, 1.3 seconds. The Bryant men were led by Caleb Paul's (Addison, ME) school record in the men's 5,000 meters in 15 minutes, 9.71 seconds in leading the Bulldogs to a 23rd place overall. Hafiz Greigre (Attleboro, MA) placed second in the 200 meter final in 21.63 seconds…SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Men: Southern Connecticut State University senior Ivan Schmidt (Bridgeport, Conn.) won the high jump with a mark of six feet, 11.75 inches at the IC4A championships on Sunday at Princeton University. Schmidt is the first Southern athlete to win two career IC4A championships among the Owls' seven titles. Graduate student Ramon Laboy (Danbury, Conn.) improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying for the Division II outdoor championships with a Southern record time of 9:01.19 to place second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Junior Robert Keizer (Great Neck, N.Y.) finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 48 feet, 7.25 inches. The Owls placed fifth in the New England outdoor championships at Northeastern University, scoring 57.50 points to lead all Division II teams in the 36-team competition won by the University of Rhode Island. Freshman Anthony Roberson (Hamden, Conn.) won the high jump at a height of six feet, six inches. Keizer placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 48 feet, 11 inches while sophomore Chris Watson (Manchester, Conn.) finished sixth at 46 feet, 5.5 inches. Sophomore Rob Coates (East Haven, Conn.) placed third in the pole vault at 14 feet, 11 inches and senior Jeff Cretella (East Haven, Conn.) was third in the shot put at 53 feet, 1.75 inches. Junior Kevin Taylor (Bristol, Conn.) placed fourth in the long jump at 22 feet, 11 inches with graduate student Kyle Greene ((Windsor, Conn.) tied for sixth at 22 feet, 9.75 inches. Taylor was also a member of Southern's 4 x 100-meter relay, which placed second in a time of 41.86 seconds. He was joined by sophomore Larry Johnson (Greenwich, Conn.), junior Brian Mason (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and sophomore Donald Stevens (White Plains, N.Y.). Women: Senior Randi Cuccaro (Oxford, Conn.) won the javelin as the Owls finished in fourth place in the New England Championships this past weekend in Boston. The University of Connecticut beat out all teams with a final score of 229.25 while Williams College finished in second (74.25), Dartmouth in third (57.50) and Southern Connecticut in fourth with a score of 53. Cuccaro placed first in the javelin with a best mark of 137-11, which was an improvement from her previous NCAA provisional performance. Teammates Thatcha DaCosta (Englewood, NJ), Shaunnaya Williams (New Haven, Conn.), Jarryn Mercer (Amityville, NY), and Symone Wong (Laurelton, NY) combined for a second place finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.12. DaCosta also took second in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3.75 while placing fifth in the long jump behind Stacey Egbert (Danbury, Conn.) who took second place with a mark of 18 feet, six inches. Sophomore Sasha Mathelier (Uniondale, NY) took fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.81. Sophomore Keisha Regular (Westport, Conn.) finished behind Mathelier in fifth place with a time of 15.09… STONEHILL: Stonehill posted its highest finish ever on the men's side at the 2006 New England Championships over the weekend, as the Skyhawks placed 13th of 36 entrants in the team competition. Nine individuals garnered all-New England honors for their performances, including junior Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.), who finished 7-8 in the 100 meters and were part of the Skyhawks' seventh place 4 X 100 relay squad...The women's 4 X 800 relay team of junior Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.), sophomores Amanda Carnevale (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Mary Donovan (Sudbury, Mass.), as well as freshman Jenny Gardynski (Everett, Mass.), earned all-New England honors by placing eighth in the competition with a time of 9:55...Sophomore Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) has provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships in the men's 1,500 meters, while DeIngenis and senior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) are provisional qualifiers in the women's 1,500 and 3,000 meters, respectively, for Stonehill. Individual selections for the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championships, which begin on May 23rd in Emporia, Kan., will be announced on Tuesday morning.
