Northeast-10 Mens Athlete of the Week

Ryan Agnew, Bentley (Sr., Spencer, MA) - Captured the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional individual championship with a 10,000-meter time of 31:32.7. Became Bentleys first regional champion since 2000 and earn his fourth straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships.

Northeast-10 Mens Freshman of the Week

Ruben Sanca, UMass Lowell (Fr., Boston, MA) - Top freshman runner at the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. Placed 10th overall and posted a time of 32:14.0.

Northeast-10 Womens Athlete of the Week

Nicole Plante, UMass Lowell (Jr., North Adams, MA) - Named the Runner of the Year and led UMass Lowell to first place at the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. Captured the individual title in 22:06.4 for the 6K course, more than 52 seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Northeast-10 Womens Freshman of the Week

Christina DaLomba, UMass Lowell (Fr., Marstons, Mills, MA) - Top freshman runner at the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. Ran the 6K course in 23:06.9 and placed sixth overall.

Northeast-10 Mens Weekly Honor Roll:

Anthony Vitale, Bentley (Sr., Natick, MA) - Was named to the All-Region team after finishing 13th in the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a time of 32:26.1.

Stephan Ramirez, Bentley (So., San Antonio, TX) - Was named to the All-Region team after finishing 15th in the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a time of 32:38.1.

Patrick Morasse, UMass Lowell (Sr., Lowell, MA) - Placed second and led UMass Lowell to second at the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. Ran the 10K Course in 31:43.7.

Thomas Lichtenberger, Saint Michael's (Jr., Bloomfield, CT) - Helped guide the Purple Knights to a seventh place finish in the NCAA Regionals by placing 16th overall, completing the race in 32:39.

Mike Cebula , Southern Connecticut ( Jr. , White Plains, NY ) - At the NCAA Northeast regional, led the Owls to a fourth-place finish. Registered a time of 31:58.6 to place seventh.

Scott Richnavsky , Southern Connecticut ( Sr. , Torrington, CT ) - Placed ninth at the NCAA Northeast regional with a time of 32:11.9, helping the Owls to a fourth-place team finish.

Khalid Abdi, Stonehill (So., Brockton, MA) - Placed third individually at 2005 NCAA Northeast Regional championships with time of 31:47 over 10K layout in leading Skyhawks to first-ever regional crown.

Tim Catoggio, Stonehill (Jr., Bradford, MA) - Earned all-regional honors at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 32:14 over 10K layout, good for 12th place.

Dickie Gerry, Stonehill (So., Bow, NH) - Placed fifth for at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 31:53 over 10K layout.

David Metzger, Stonehill (So., Ellington, CT) - Finished fourth at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 31:49 over 10K layout in leading Skyhawks to first-ever regional crown.

Joe Ryan, Stonehill (So., Chelmsford, MA) - Finished 10th at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 32:12 over 10K layout.

T.J. Smith, Stonehill (Sr., East Bridgewater, MA) - Placed eighth at NCAA Northeast Regional championships with time of 32:02 over 10K layout in leading Skyhawks to first-ever regional title.

Northeast-10 Womens Weekly Honor Roll:

Caitlyn Clark, Assumption (Sr., Worcester, MA) - Finished third at the NCAA regionals (23:04.8) to become the first Greyhound ever, male or female, to qualify for the NCAA nationals.

Meghan Bouchard, Bentley (Jr., Hebron, CT) - Was named to the All-Region team after finishing 14th in the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a time of 23:53.1.

Melissa Nash, Bentley (Fr., Marshfield, MA) - Was named to the All-Region team after finishing 13th overall in the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a time of 23:47.4.

Emily Thomas, UMass Lowell (Fr., Foxboro, MA) - Placed seventh overall and earned All-Northeast Region honors at the NCAA Northeast Region Championships. Covered the 6K course in 23:15.8.

Amanda Sousa, UMass Lowell (So., Peabody, MA) - Placed 10th overall and earned All-Northeast Region honors at the NCAA Northeast Region Championships. Ran the 6K course in 23:37.3.

Kaitlin Buckley, Stonehill (Sr., North Kingstown, RI) - Placed fourth individually at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 23:06 over 6K layout.

Kelly Chaisson, Stonehill (Jr., Walpole, MA) - Finished eighth at NCAA Northeast Regional championships with time of 23:23 over 6K layout.

Dana DeIngenis, Stonehill (Jr., Cranston, RI) - Placed fifth individually at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 23:06 over 6K layout.

Erin Smith, Stonehill (Sr., Brockton, MA) - Finished as individual runner-up at NCAA Northeast Regionals with time of 22:57 over 6K layout.

UMASS LOWELL: Junior Nicole Plante earned her second major honor in three weeks as she captured the NCAA Northeast Region individual title and led the UMass Lowell womens cross country team to its first-ever regional championship Sunday at Franklin Park. The NCAA Northeast Region Runner of the Year, Plante was one of six UML runners to place among the top 15 runners and earn All-Region honors. Also cited were freshmen Christina DaLomba and Emily Thomas, sophomore Amanda Sousa and freshman Sarah Merullo, and senior Robin Osbourne. Two weeks ago, Plante was named the Northeast-10 Conference Runner of the Year On the mens side, Stonehill College ended UMass Lowells five-year reign by winning the NCAA Northeast Region Championship Sunday at Franklin Park. Three UML runners earned All-Northeastern Region honors: senior Patrick Morasse, who placed second; freshman Ruben Sanca, who led all freshmen by placing sixth; and junior Steve Plouffe, who placed 14th. The UML men qualified for the NCAA Championship for the sixth straight year, while the women are making their third straight appearance STONEHILL: Stonehill captured its first-ever NCAA Northeast Regional men's championship in convincing fashion with a 34-point victory (30-64) over five-time defending champion UMass Lowell in the 2005 championship race at Franklin Park, as six Skyhawks earned all-Northeast regional accolades for their performances: sophomores Khalid Abdi (Brockton, MA), David Metzger (Ellington, CT), Dickie Gerry (Bow, NH) and Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, MA), senior T.J. Smith (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and junior Tim Catoggio (Bradford, MA). Stonehill, which captured its second straight Northeast-10 title over UMass Lowell two weeks ago, earned its third straight trip to the NCAA Division II national championships set for November 19th at Cal Poly-Pomona. Skyhawk Head Coach Karen Boen was named as the 2005 NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Men's Coach of the Year for the first time in her career after copping five straight regional coaching honors on the women's side. The Stonehill women qualified for their sixth straight trip to the NCAA national championships, also set for November 19th at Cal Poly-Pomona, but history repeated itself as the Skyhawks fell by a single-point (35-36) in seeing their five-year reign as NCAA Northeast Regional champions end at the hands of UMass Lowell, who also posted a one-point win over Stonehill in the Northeast-10 championships two weeks ago. Seniors Erin Smith (Brockton, MA) and Kaitlin Buckley (North Kingstown, RI), along with juniors Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, RI) and Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, MA), earned all-Northeast regional honors in posting top eight finishes for the Skyhawks BENTLEY: Both Bentley teams finished third in the NCAA Div. II Regionals. It was the fifth straight third place finish for the Falcon women, and the sixth straight year the Bentley men have been in the top three. Senior Ryan Agnew (Spencer, MA), wholl be making his fourth straight trip to the nationals, became Bentleys first individual champion since Gary Mello in 2000 LE MOYNE: The Le Moyne women finished fifth and the men 11th at the NCAA NE Regional. Christina Phelan led the Le Moyne women with a 19th place finish. On the men's side, Peter Gratien and Patrick Stagnitta were 46th and 47th SAINT ROSE: The Saint Rose mens and womens cross country teams registered perhaps the best team performances ever in school annals at the 2005 NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Sunday afternoon. The mens team recorded four of the schools ten swiftest 10k times within the past decade on the way to a tenth place finish among 20 complete squads. Meanwhile, the womens team had a trio of runners post three of the six fastest 6k times during the last seven seasons en route to an eighth place finish among 15 complete competing institutions SAINT MICHAELS: Junior Thomas Lichtenberger (Bloomfield, CT) finished just one place out of a spot on the NCAA Northeast Region Men's All-Star Team on Sunday, earning 16th in a time of 32:39.2. Competing in their final race for Saint Michael's on Sunday were seniors Paul Wagner (Woods Hole, MA) and Lionel Welch (Worthington, MA) on the men's side, and seniors Kim Fahner (Westminster, VT), Jessie Sedore (Craftsbury, VT) and Liz Gray (Westmoreland, NH) on the women's side BRYANT: The Bryant men's cross country team finished ninth at the NCAA Regionals over the weekend with Caleb Paul (Addison, ME) finishing 38th in 34:11 and Nicole Radzik leading the Bulldog women with a 21st place finish in 24:32.
