Le Moyne's Tim Buff Named NE10 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FOXBORO, Mass. – Le Moyne senior Tim Buffa standout member of the swimming team, has been named the 2016-17 Northeast-10 Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Buff was recognized at the conference's end-of-the-year banquet Sunday night at Gillette Stadium.

Buff is the second Le Moyne student-athlete to receive the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year as Jack Venditti, a member of the lacrosse team was honored following the 2010-11 academic year.

A finance and marketing major, Buff graduated in May with a 3.96 grade point average. He was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District™ First Team selection each of his four years and he was recently named a First Team Academic All-America® selection this spring.

In April, Buff became just the third student-athlete in the eight years (23 seasons, 24 sports) of the NE10 awards program to be named the Sport Excellence Award recipient three straight years. He also received Academic All-Conference accolades for the third straight year. A Dean's List member each semester at Le Moyne, Buff has been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma (International Business Honor Society) and Alpha Sigma Nu (Jesuit Honor Society).

At the NE10 Championships in February, he earned his second career NE10 gold medal by touching the wall first in the 400-yard IM with a school-record and NCAA "B"-cut time of 4:02.64 to win by over two seconds. He finished second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:53.79, the third-best time in the program's history. He concluded the Championship by placing second in the 200-yard breaststroke in a school-record time of 2:04.53.
