Eight NE-10 Teams Earn Bids in NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball East Regionals

Bentley to Host Women's Regional; 5 Men's Teams Selected

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Eight Northeast-10 teams were selected into the NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball East Regionals on Sunday night. Five NE-10 men's teams earned spots in the NCAA tournament, while three women's squads from the conference earned bids.

MEN'S
The conference's five men's tournament selections were the most of any conference in the country. It is the ninth time in the last 11 years that five or more NE-10 men's teams made the NCAA field and it is the fourth straight season with five. The regional will begin with the first round on Saturday, March 12. The second round will be Sunday, March 13 and the regional final will be Tuesday, March 15.

Saint Anselm was the highest-seeded NE-10 team, coming in at No. 2 after the top seed and host of the NCAA Men's East Regional, Holy Family of the CACC. Southern Connecticut was third, Stonehill was fourth, Bentley was fifth and NE-10 Champions Southern New Hampshire was handed the No. 8 seed.

The Hawks will take on the No. 7 seed Philadelphia University (CACC), while the Owls will face the sixth seed from the East Coast Conference (ECC) St. Thomas Aquinas. The Skyhawks and Falcons will go head-to-head in the 4-5 game, while the reigning regional champion Penmen draw top-seeded Holy Family.

WOMEN'S
Bentley, fresh off its fifth NE-10 Women's Basketball Championship in the last six season, was awarded the No. 1 seed and will host the NCAA East Regional. Championship runner up American International was slotted as the No. 2 seed, while Saint Anselm claimed the eighth seed and final spot in the region. 

The top-seeded Falcons and eight-seeded Hawks will square off against each other in the first round on Friday, March 11. The second-seeded Yellow Jackets will take on Bloomfield of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Friday. The second round will take place on Saturday, March 12 and the regional final will be Monday, March 14.
