Warriors upend Franklin Pierce, 1-0, while River Hawks down Post, 3-1
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Third-seeded Merrimack College earned its first ever NCAA Tournament victory on Friday night at Larkin Field on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University, defeating Northeast-10 counterpart and sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University, 1-0.
The Warriors continue on to the second round, where it will face second-seeded So. New Hampshire on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Manchester, N.H.
Fourth-seeded University of Massachusetts Lowell was also victorious in NCAA first-round action on Friday night, defeating fifth-seeded Post, 3-1, at Cushing Field in Lowell, Mass.
The River Hawks will now take on top-seeded LIU Post in Lowell on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Morais (pictured) opened the scoring and junior
Majid Saeed added a pair of goals in the
victory. Morais' goal came in the 25th minute on a corner, and the
River Hawks extended their lead to 2-0 in the 41st minute when
Saeed scored off a deflection.
Saeed added his second goal in the 60th minute on a pass from
Morais before Post got on the board in the 63rd minute.
The contest between Merrimack and Franklin Pierce was scoreless
until the 85th minute when Alejandro
Fuchs scored on a pass from Augusto
Silva to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

stopped all seven shots he faced for the shutout.
