MANCHESTER, N.H. – Pierre Omanga, who last month led the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to the NCAA Division II national championship, was selected by the New England Revolution in the third round (50th selection overall) of the 2014 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Tuesday afternoon.

Omanga, who participated in the recent MLS Player Combine, is in position to become the third So. New Hampshire player to compete in Major League Soccer.  Freddie Butler '94 was selected in the second round of the inaugural 1996 MLS Draft and played with the San Jose Clash and Columbus Crew.  Preston Burpo '95 spent time as a goalkeeper with Chivas USA, the Colorado Rapids and the New England Revolution from 2006-10 and currently serves as the goalkeeper coach for D.C.United.

Omanga, a Paris, France native, the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Player of the Year, totaled 21 points and three assists for 45 points in his lone season in a Penmen uniform.  A consensus First Team All-American, earning the honor from Daktronics and the NSCAA, Omanga finished third nationally in total goals and sixth in total points while pacing one of the country's top offenses while leading Southern New Hampshire to its second NCAA national championship, the first since 1989.

A three-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week, Omanga was also the league's Player of the Year as he led the Penmen to an unblemished (13-0-0) league mark and the regular-season championship.  He followed up by being named the Most Valuable Player of the Northeast-10 Championship after totaling three goals in three games, including the lone goal in 1-0 wins over Adelphi University and Merrimack College in the semifinals and finals.  Omanga was also selected as the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the NCAA Championship.

Omanga scored in 14 of 24 games for the Penmen this season and had six multi-goal games, including a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Saint Anselm on September 25.  He also had an eight-game scoring streak from October 16-November 10.  He finished the season with 10 game-winning goals.
