COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's and women's basketball teams have helped raised more than $1,000 for the American Cancer Society (ACS) since late January during fundraisers at home contests. Both programs hosted Coaches vs. Cancer and Think Pink events.

On Jan. 28, the basketball coaching staffs wore sneakers while dressed in their familiar game attire in conjunction with Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Awareness Weekend. The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the ACS and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The program seeks to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living among students, faculty and staff, fans, and the community at large. Participating coaches have helped raise more than $87 million to help the ACS save lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer.

On Feb. 11, the basketball teams hosted Think Pink, using pink shoe laces and various pink accessories while raffling pink basketballs signed by Saint Michael's basketball players. Each team's goal was to raise money to help fund research, create awareness, fight back, and show support for all who are affected by cancer.
