Adelphi, Stonehill Earn Top Seeds in 2015 Northeast-10 Women's Basketball Championship Field

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Adelphi and Stonehill both finished the regular season atop the division standings and have earned No. 1 seeds in the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Basketball Championship. 

The Panthers, who are ranked 10th in the country in the USA Today Coaches' Poll, finished the regular season with a 25-3 overall record and won the Southwest Division with an 18-2 conference mark. Adelphi will have a first-round bye and will host the winner of Merrimack and Le Moyne on Sunday in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. 

Stonehill (22-3, 18-3 NE-10), the Northeast Division champion, is right behind Adelphi in the national rankings, tied for 12th. The Skyhawks also receive a bye and will host the winner of American International and Saint Michael's at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Merrimack (14-12, 10-11 NE-10), the No. 4 seed from the Northeast, will welcome Southwest No. 5 seed Le Moyne (16-12, 10-10 NE-10) in the first round on Friday night at 7 p.m. Southwest No. 4 seed American International (15-13, 10-10 NE-10) will play host to fifth-seeded Saint Michael's (12-14, 7-14 NE-10) of the Northeast Division for a 7 p.m. tipoff Friday in the opening round as well.

Both No. 2 and No. 3 seeds will also receive byes into Sunday's quarterfinals for 3 p.m. contests. Southwest No. 2 New Haven (22-4, 16-4 NE-10), who is ranked 21st in the country, will host Northeast No. 3 Assumption (15-11, 10-11 NE-10). Franklin Pierce (17-9, 13-8 NE-10), the No. 2 seed from the Northeast, will host Southwest No. 3 Southern Connecticut (14-14, 11-9 NE-10).

The semifinals will take place on Thursday, March 5 (both games at 7:00 p.m.), with the Northeast-10 Championship game set for Sunday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m.
