NE10 Player of the Week
Andrea Serra-Rosa, American International
Graduate Student | Outside Hitter | Toa Alta, P.R.
Serra-Rosa, the reigning NE10 Player of the Year, continued her quest to defend her title as she helped AIC extend its winning streak to 10. This week she averaged 4.0 kills per set, 3.69 digs per set while scoring 58 points on the week and swinging .336. Against Mercy she recorded 17 kills (5.67 kps) and followed that up with 14 kills (4.67 kps) against Felician. To help the cause she also had five assists, five blocks, and three aces.
NE10 Libero of the Week
Jamie Yonker, Adelphi
Senior | Libero | Old Bethpage, N.Y.
Yonker averaged 8.25 digs per set in a 2-0 week for Adelphi volleyball, as they picked up a non-conference win against Holy Family and league victory over Saint Rose. She reached a new season and career-high with 38 digs in a five-set win over the Tigers, which is just two behind Katarina Warburton's program-best single game mark of 40. With 66 total digs over eight sets, she also added 14 assists at 1.75 assists per set.
NE10 Setter of the Week
Naomi Eckert-Rivera, American International
Sophomore | Setter | Toa Baja, P.R.
Part of the Yellow Jackets' 10-match winning streak is due to Eckert-Rivera and the numbers she is putting up. This week she averaged 11.31 assists per set, including an impressive 13.33 assists per set against Felician. She also has chipped in defensively with 3.69 digs per set but also recorded 10 blocks in the 4-0 week.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Ellie Wheeler, Bentley
Sophomore (Freshman Eligibility) | Outside Hitter | Olathe, Kan.
Wheeler, the NE10 leader in average kills, totaled 31 kills, 23 digs, two blocks, two aces and 35.5 points during four-set victories over Assumption and Southern Connecticut. She had 14 kills at Assumption and gave Bentley a 17-point, 15-assist double-double against the Owls. In the two matches, she hit .316 while averaging 3.88 kills, 2.88 digs, 0.38 blocks and 4.4 points.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Kambel Fiser, Adelphi (Fr., S - Seattle, Wash.)
Fiser smashed her single game assist mark this week, completing a five-set victory with 60 while also adding 16 digs and seven kills in a win over Holy Family. Her new career-best falls one shy of the Adelphi single game assist record, which is currently held by Brianne MacArthur from 2000. For the 2-0 week, she totaled 94 assist at 11.75 per set while also posting 26 digs (3.25 digs per set). Against Saint Rose, she accounted for 34 assists with 11.33 per set with 10 digs for her sixth double-double this season.
Amanda Rodriguez, American Int'l (Jr, LB - Miami, Fla.)
Rodriguez continued her hot streak this past week. As the Yellow Jackets improved their winning streak to 10 matches with a 4-0 week, Rodriguez averaged 4.0 digs per set, including an impressive 6.67 per set, in a sweep against Felician where she had 20 digs. Additionally she chipped in 10 assists and four aces on the week.
Amanda Parker, Bentley (Sr., S - St. Charles, Ill.)
In a pair of 3-1 conference wins, Parker amassed 88 assists, 24 digs, 4 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks with averages of 11 assists, three digs, 0.38 aces, 0.38 blocks and 0.50 kills. At Assumption, she gave the Falcons 42 assists, eight digs, three blocks, two kills and an ace. She followed that performance with 46 assists, 16 digs, two aces and two kills against Southern Connecticut State.
Madeleine Kennedy, Le Moyne (Jr., OH - Chelsea, Mich.)
She registered 17 kills in Le Moyne's 3-0 victory over Pace on Saturday. She tallied eight kills in the first set, two in the second and seven in the third set.
Jessica Akiona, New Haven (Sr., RS - Kapolei, Hawaii)
Akiona finished a 2-0 week for the Chargers with 26 combined kills and 30 combined digs. Included in those numbers was a career-high afternoon in a four-set win over Franklin Pierce where she racked up 17 hammers and 24 digs, both of which are her best numbers. Those 17 kills against the Ravens came on a .419 attack percentage as she finished with just four errors in 31 attempts. Overall for the week, she finished with a .309 attack percentage, adding nine kills in the week-opening sweep of Pace. She also combined for five total blocks and added a service ace across the two matches.
Sophia Leon-Tabor, New Haven (Fr., S - Fort Myers, Fla.)
Leon-Tabor led her squad to a 2-0 week with a sweep of Pace and a four-set victory over Franklin Pierce, racking up 83 total assists for an average of 11.86 per set. Included in the 83 assists were 51 against Franklin Pierce, the most she has dished out in a conference match and just the second time this season she has collected 50+, with the other in the opening match of the season against Ursuline (53). She also finished the week with 17 digs (9 against Pace and 8 against Franklin Pierce), an ace and a block.
Michelle Henwood, Saint Anselm (Jr, S - Guaynabo, Puerto Rico)
Henwood posted 82 assists in a 1-1 week for the Hawks. She opened with 42 assists in a 3-1 loss to Southern New Hampshire before throwing up 40 helpers in a 3-1 win over Saint Michael's. The junior co-captain added five kills and seven service aces to the offenses. Defensively, she totaled 10 digs in each match. Henwood ranks fourth in conference averaging 9.79 assists per set.
Krishnalei So'oto, Southern Conn. St. (So, L - Oceanside, Calif.)
So'oto had 56 digs through two games for an average of eight digs per set and chipped in eight assists in a 1-1 week for Southern Connecticut. Her 32-dig performance against Bentley was the fourth-most digs in a single game in program history.
Juliana Pacini, Southern N.H. (Jr., OH - Sao Paulo, Brazil)
Pacini amassed 30 kills (3.33 k/s), three aces (0.33 sa/s), 27 digs (3.00 d/s) and three blocks (0.33 b/s) during a 1-1 week for the Penmen. Pacini turned in 15 kills (.289), two aces and eight digs in Tuesday's 3-1 upset win at Saint Anselm and then produced 15 more kills, an ace, career-high 19 digs and a pair of blocks in a five-set loss to Stonehill on Friday.
Basia Peragine, Stonehill (Jr, OH/RS - Savannah, Ga.)
Peragine averaged 3.88 kills per set while hitting an impressive .426 in a 2-0 week for the Skyhawks. She also chipped in with 0.25 blocks per set, while totaling four digs and 32 points over the two matches. She matched her season-best with 21 kills, while hitting .364 in Friday's 3-2 comeback win at Southern N.H., chipping in three digs and two block assists. Peragine added ten kills, without an error, for a .588 hitting percentage in Saturday's 3-0 sweep of Saint Michael's.
