Yellow Jackets Place Five In Top-10 To Secure Repeat
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The American International men's cross country team claimed its second straight NE10 Championship in impressive fashion with five runners in the top-10 this Sunday on the campus of Saint Anselm College.
The Yellow Jackets were anchored by the 1-2 finish from Ezra Mutai and Callum Elson as the team finished with 28 points overall. Southern Connecticut State earned the runner-up finish with 38 points while Stonehill (99), Franklin Pierce (105) and Assumption (188) rounded out the top five.
Mutai finished in 24:28 to claim his second straight individual title while Callum was a minute behind him in 25:28. AIC runners also placed seventh, eighth and 10th to claim the victory. The Owls has three runners in the top six, led by Jake Mattei, and five in the top 12. Franklin Pierce's Wondu Summa and Assumption's Claudio Rocha were the only runners outside of AIC & SCSU in the top-12.
Following the race, Franklin Pierce's Riley Fenoff was honored with the NE10 Elite 24 award for the third time in his career for owning the highest GPA of all competitors with a 4.0.
