Former New Haven Student-Athlete Zach Voytek Signs Free Agent Contract with the Buffalo Bills

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Three-time Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year Zach Voytek became the newest Charger to make the pilgrimage to the NFL recently when he signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills.

Voytek made his mark at New Haven earning All-America accolades for a second consecutive season, picking up First Team honors from the American Football Coaches Association following the 2016 season. That honor comes in addition to First Team All-America distinction from D2Football.com as well as All-Region honors from the Don Hansen Football Gazette.

As well as earning his third-straight top lineman honor from the NE10, Voytek is a three-time All-NE10 First Team performer as well as an NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-Super Region One First Team honoree and a New England Football Writers All-New England team member.

Buffalo will play four preseason games in 2017, opening the schedule on August 10 against Minnesota. Dates follow against Philadelphia, Baltimore and Detroit before the Bills kick off the regular season at New Era Field on Sunday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m. on CBS against the New York Jets. The Bills enter their inaugural season under the 20th head coach in franchise history, Sean McDermott, after closing out the 2016 campaign with a 7-9 record, third in the AFC East. McDermott joins the Bills after spending six seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.
