Assumption Women, Southern Connecticut Men Lead After Day 3 of NE-10 Swimming and Diving Championships

Four NE-10 Records Shattered on Saturday Night

WORCESTER, Mass. – Heading into the final day of the 2016 Northeast-10 Swimming and Diving Championships, Southern Connecticut continues to lead the men’s field, while Assumption has taken the lead on the women’s side.

Four more conference records were broken on Saturday night from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, which puts the total of new NE-10 marks set to nine over the first three days of the four-day event. 

The first record to fall on the night was done so by Le Moyne’s Travis May, who set a new conference mark in the men’s 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.18. The next record to fall came at the hands of Southern Connecticut’s Tyler Vander Vos, breaking his own record in the men’s 200-yard freestyle with a 1:39.57 mark.

Then a pair of records fell during the final event of the night, the men’s and women’s 200-yard freestyle relay. Southern Connecticut claimed first place in both events, setting new records along the way. The Owls’ women’s relay team of Katie Crochet, Sydney Fromkin, Katherine Krajcik and Emily Wolfe posted a time of 1:36.42, while the Owls’ men’s relay team of Brendan Murphy, Vander Vos, Raymond Snyder and Raymond Cswerko set the mark with a time of 1:21.29.

After the third day of competition, Assumption leads the women’s standings followed by Southern Connecticut in second and Bentley in third. The Owls maintained their lead atop the men’s standings, while Bentley and Le Moyne made up the rest of the top three squads. 

The fourth and final day of the NE-10 Championships will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday morning with the evening session slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
