Pair of Adelphi Players Earn Academic All-America Honors.

MANFIELD, Mass. – A trio of soccer players from the Northeast-10 Conference have been selected as College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans, as announced by the organization this week. The NE10 had two men's players and one women's player recognized for their commitment to excellence on the field and in the classroom.

Adelphi's Morgan Salmon, the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-American, was the only player to earn First Team status as an Academic All-American. Salmon has achieved a 3.82 GPA as an Engineering Physics major. In her senior season, Salmon helped lead the Panthers to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship semifinals for the first time since 2004.

Another Adelphi player earned recognition - this time on the men's side - as Victor Castel was named a Second Team Academic All-American after posting a 3.82 GPA as a Business Administration major. He was a First Team All-Conference player as a graduate student, leading the Panthers in goals (7), assists (3) and points (17) this season.

Southern New Hampshire's Preston Neal claimed a spot on Third Team Academic All-America after earning a 3.73 GPA as an Exercise Science major. He ranked third among NE10 goalkeepers in goals against average (0.99) and posted six shutouts, which was tied for a league-high, on his way to Second Team All-Conference and All-Region honors. Neal helped SNHU reach the NE10 Championship final against eventual NCAA Division II champion Franklin Pierce.

CSC Academic All-America teams are recognized across four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. On the men's side, Division II honorees had a 3.85 average GPA. On the women's side, the 11 members of the First Team had a 3.94 average GPA. The Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America program.
