Garden City, N.Y. – Recently, members of the Adelphi University softball team volunteered at Manhasset High School aiding with the Jennie Finch clinic alongside Olympian and former US Softball team member, Jennie Finch.

The clinic was open to any girls ranging from 10 to 18 years old and included skill instructions which included outfield, infield, throwing, pitching and hitting skills and techniques. Nearly 200 campers were in attendance on the day coming from as far as Virginia and North Carolina.

The team's volunteer work not only helped with making the experience enjoyable and educational to the campers, it also helped keep the cost of the clinic manageable in order to reach out to a larger demographic of youth in the area.

"Jennie Finch is one of the best ambassadors of our game and I was amazed at how down-to-earth she is," Head CoachPaige Smith said.

Members of the team also benefitted from the event, having the opportunity to work directly alongside Jenny Finch, her father and her Olympian friends. "Although our team was there to instruct the younger players and help Jennie and the other Olympians and professional athletes, I was impressed that they kept taking the time to give my team pointers and get to know our girls. It is an experience that I will never forget and I want to thank Dr. Scott for signing the approval form that allowed us to work the event."
