Adelphi's Cavallo Named Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship Winner

Garden City, N.Y. - Kristina Cavallo has been selected as the recipient of the AAHPERD (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance), Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship. This honor is awarded to the top female physical education major in the country. 
 
In early December of 2011, she became a finalist in the running for the Presidential Scholarship when she was named the EDA Robert Pate award winner.

The ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 15 at the Boston Convention Center where she will be recognized for her academic performance within the physical education field.
 
Cavallo is entering her senior year as a member of the softball team. Her and the rest of her teammates will kick off the season at the Rebel Games on Friday, March 9 in Kissimmee, Florida where they will play 12 games in a span of seven days. Cavallo will be cutting the trip a day early in order to be at the convention center on the 15th to receive the award.
 
AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals supporting and assisting professionals involved in physical education, recreation, fitness, sport and coaching, dance, health education and promotion, and all specialties related to achieving a healthy and active lifestyle.
