FALMOUTH, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced its 2013 Hall of Fame Class Monday night at its annual awards banquet, which was held in Falmouth, Mass.  Four former student-athletes and one former administrator were enshrined into the conference’s Hall of Fame.

Two former standouts from Bentley University were selected for the Class of 2013, while American International College and Stonehill College both had a former student-athlete tabbed as well.

Assumption College’s longtime former sports information director Steve Morris was also selected by the conference’s hall of fame committee for enshrinement.

The student-athletes that were selected to join the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame are American Int’l’s Ravella Gericke, ’97; Kelly Barker ‘01 and Dallas Mall ‘04 representing Bentley, and Stonehill’s Jon Cronin, Class of 1992.

The inductees will be recognized on each of their respective campuses throughout the upcoming academic year in a ceremony chosen by the individual institutions.

Gericke finished her career at American Int’l as one of the most decorated softball players in school history.  She was a four-time Northeast-10 All Star, earning First Team All-Conference recognition her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.

Ravella was also an All-Region selection each of those three seasons.  She also helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a pair of College World Series appearances in 1996 and 1997.

Morris, known as “Merc” to friends and colleagues, dedicated over four decades of his life to Assumption and the school’s student-athletes. After serving as a statistician while a student at the school, he became the college’s sports information director and served in that role for nearly 40 years before passing away in January 2011.

The only sports information director the college had ever had, Merc impacted the lives of thousands of Assumption student-athletes over the years. His impact went far beyond Assumption though, as he mentored hundreds of student-athletes, coaches, and colleagues throughout the years, and was always on the other end of a phone call if you needed a good laugh or advice.

Barker finished her illustrious career as the leading scorer in the history of Division II’s most successful women’s basketball program at Bentley with 1,800 points.  She also is the second-leading rebounder in program history with 1,120.  Kelly was named a WBCA All-American in 2001, and was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection.

During Barker’s career at the school, Bentley recorded a mark of 120-12, won the Northeast-10 regular season and tournament titles each of her four seasons, and made two Elite Eight appearances.

Mall was the co-recipient of the school’s Outstanding Male Senior Athlete and was awarded the Gold Helmet award, which is awarded by the Boston Globe to the top Division II or III Football player in New England.  During his storied career, Dallas caught 78 touchdown passes, which is still the most in NCAA history at any division.

He also owns Northeast-10 career records for receptions and receiving yards. As a freshman, he caught 24 touchdowns breaking the single-season mark which was held by Randy Moss. His 1,313 receiving yards that season still stands as the most receiving yards by a freshman.  Mall also helped lead the Falcons to NCAA Tournament appearances in both 2003 and 2004.

The final member of this year’s NE-10 Hall of Fame Class is Cronin.  Even though he completed his playing career more than 20 years ago, Jon is currently ranked third on the conference’s all-time scoring list, having registered 2,301 points during his storied run at the school.

He was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year following the ’88-’89 season, and capped off his career by earning Northeast-10 Player of the Year honors in 1992.  He is Stonehill’s all time leader in three-point field goals made (308), which also puts him seventh in the history of the Northeast-10.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
