NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack senior
wide receiver Isaiah Voegeli has been
named a 2012 Daktronics First Team Football All-American.
"Being named All-American is a huge honor and I am extremely happy
for Isaiah," stated fifth-year head coach John
Perry. "He has worked as hard as anyone I have ever
coached and he deserves all the recognition he is receiving. Isaiah
really embodies what it means to be a Merrimack Warrior and I feel
as though his work ethic will pay off in his future endeavors and
he will be successful in whatever he puts his mind to."
Voegeli, the Northeast-10 Conference Most Valuable Player, was the
lone NE-10 representative on either the first or second team.
The Hyannis, Mass. native finished his senior season with the most
impressive receiving season in school history. Voegeli racked up a
NE-10 record 108 catches for 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns while
earning All-Region and first team All-Conference honors. The 1,500
yards was second most in NE-10 history and his average of 150.0
yards per game was good for tops in the country while his 14
touchdown catches ranked first in school history. Voegeli broke the
100 yard plateau in seven of 10 games as a senior and set the NE-10
record for receiving yards in a game with 269 yards on 10 catches
against Saint Anselm. Voegeli also racked up a career-best 17
catches for 264 yards against Pace. His 10.8 catches per contest
also ranked first in the country.
For his career, Voegeli has established himself as the best wide
receiver to dawn the Warrior jersey. He leaves Merrimack as the
school’s all-time leader in multiple receiving categories
including catches (311) and yards (3,554) and ranks second all-time
with 34 touchdown receptions.
Voegeli is the second Warrior to be named an All-American in the
last three seasons, the other being current Indianapolis Colt,
Shawn Loiseau.
