SNHU Highlights Field of Three NE10 Teams in NCAA Baseball East Regional

MANSFIELD, Mass. - For the fourth-straight year, Southern New Hampshire has earned the top seed and hosting rights in the NCAA Division II Baseball East Regional, as announced late Sunday night. The Penmen highlighted a field that included three teams from the Northeast-10 Conference, including Franklin Pierce and New Haven. 

SNHU (31-17) seeks its quest for a fourth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Cary, N.C. The Penmen, under first-year head coach Chris Shank, continued their streak of dominance in the Northeast Division of the NE10 standings by winning their sixth-straight regular season title this year. SNHU was 20-7 in conference play and earned the top seed in the NE10 Baseball Championship. 

Franklin Pierce, the NE10 Championship finalist, enters East Regional #1 as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4-seeded Jefferson in first round action at SNHU. New Haven, the NE10 champion and the conference's automatic qualifier, earned the No. 7 seed in East Regional #2 and will play at No. 2-seeded Molloy. 

Regional play begins on Thursday, as all three NE10 teams will be in action. Top-seeded SNHU will play the loser of the game between Franklin Pierce and Jefferson. Regional competition runs from May 16-19, then Super Regionals take place on May 24-25. Championship games will be played from June 1-8 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary.
