SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – After coming in at No. 10 in the preseason poll, the Stonehill College field hockey team moved up six spots to No. 4 in the nation in the first edition of the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division II poll.

Long Island University Post moved up two spots to fifth in the country, and American International College ranked 10th in the NFHCA poll after not being ranked in the preseason ledger.

Stonehill improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play after defeating defending Northeast-10 Conference regular-season champion Merrimack College, 3-1, on the road on Tuesday night.

The Skyhawks, off to a 4-0 start for the first time since winning its first seven games in 2007, have been led by sophomore Erika Kelly (pictured) with a conference-high 20 points and 10 goals, including all three tallies in the Skyhawks' win at Merrimack.

LIU Post came in at No. 5 after ranking seventh in the preseason poll, as the Pioneers have won three straight to begin the year, outscoring opponents 11-1 in those contests, including a 2-1 overtime win at American Int'l in the season opener.

The Pioneers' two leading scorers have been senior Carlee Dragon and sophomore Keliann Margiotta, as the duo has combined for seven goals and four assists.

For American Int'l, its only loss came against LIU Post, but the Yellow Jackets earned non-conference victories against Slippery Rock, Seton Hill and Mercy, all on the road, before defeating Southern Connecticut State University, 5-1, on Tuesday.

American Int'l has been led by junior Jenna Masionis, who has four goals to lead the team, while senior goalkeeper Kori Huffman has made 29 stops in the cage for the Yellow Jackets.
