NE10 Field Hockey Report: Week 9

Week 9 - November 1, 2021

NE10 Player of the Week

Lauren Cooper, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Midfield | Wakefield, England

Lauren Cooper posted five goals and an assist over three games played last week. Cooper's best offensive performance came in a 7-1 victory over Southern Connecticut State, where she scored four goals on 13 shots and picked up an assist in the match.


NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Sam Simione, Bentley
Senior | Defense | Cheshire, Conn.

In the Falcons' 3-0 win at St. Michael's, Simione scored her fifth goal of the season and recorded her Division II-leading seventh defensive save. Against AIC in a 1-0 victory, she helped limit the Yellow Jackets to only two shots as Bentley finished the regular season 12-2 to secure the No. 2 seed in the NE10 Tournament.


NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week

Kylie Gargiulo, Assumption
Senior | Goalkeeper | Madison, Conn.

Gargiulo tallied seven saves in a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds. She made six impressive stops in a 1-0 ovetime victory against No. 6 Saint Anselm on Tuesday night for her ninth shutout of the season. Gargiulo went on to make one more save in a 3-0 victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas for her 10th shutout of the season as Assumption finished the regular season a perfect 14-0 in NE10 play.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Krista Dietz, Pace
Freshman | Forward | Mahopac, N.Y.

Dietz capped off her sensational regular season with another stellar stretch in two wins last week. The rookie tallied four more goals in victories over No. 8 Adelphi and Franklin Pierce. She put in both game-winning tallies, including back-to-back goals in a 3-2 triumph against the Panthers. She broke the Setters' single-season goals record on Saturday, and currently leads the NE10 with 19 tallies.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

 
Isabel Primack, Assumption (Sr., F/M - Ipswich, Mass.)
Primack led the Greyhounds in a 2-0 week with one goal and one assist. She assisted on Assumption's second goal and scored the third goal in a 3-0 shutout victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas on Saturday.
 
Ava Bevilacqua, Bentley (Jr., F - Dedham, Mass.)
Bevilacqua had two goals during a 2-0 week and accounted for the game/s only score in a 1-0 win over American International in the regular season finale. Her team-high tenth of the season came with 10:49 left in the third period on a third-chance opportunity against the Yellow Jackets. She also scored once in the Falcons' 3-0 victory at St. Michael's.

Madison Clark, Bentley (Jr., GK - Natick, Mass.)
Clark posted a shutout with five saves in a 3-0 win at St. Michael?s and played a scoreless first half in a 1-0 victory over American International. She recorded a total of six goals in 90 scoreless minutes during the week. 

Carly Lacasse, Saint Anselm (Sr., F - Sagamore Beach, Mass.)
Senior Carly LaCasse scored each of her team's two goals on Friday against New Haven - with the game-winning goal, she now has 11 in her Saint Anselm career, establishing a new team record. She broke the previous mark of 10, equaled by both Michelle Lemelin '20 and Allia Connolly '18.

Jenna Puleo, St. Michael's (Sr., F/M - Essex Junction, Vt.)
Senior Jenna Puleo (Essex Junction, Vt.) had a hat trick with an assist during a 5-0 win over Mercy on Saturday, finishing the fall with a school record for points in a season. The Purple Knights lost 3-0 to No. 9 Bentley on Tuesday.

Annemartine Christis, Southern N.H. (Fr., F - 'S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands)
Annemartine Christis collected nine points on three goals and three assists during a 3-0 week for the Penmen. Christis scored the eventual game winner in a 2-1 victory at Mercy on Thursday and then erupted for a career-best seven points in Saturday's 7-0 blanking of Molloy. Christis matched her career high with two goals and dished a career-best three assists. 

Sofie Wolters, Southern N.H. (Jr., B - Schilde, Belgium)
Sofie Wolters helped anchor a defensive unit that allowed just two goals during a 3-0 week for the Penmen. SNHU outscored its opponents, 11-2, outshot them 57-20, and held a 22-16 advantage in penalty corners. Wolters also added an assist to contribute on the offensive end.

Elisha Brinkman, Stonehill (Sr, M - Barendrecht, The Netherlands)
Had a hand in both Skyhawk goals in the second quarter that sent No. 10 Stonehill on its way to a 4-0 win at Southern Connecticut State in their lone game of the week to close out the regular season on Friday night. Dished the assist on the opening goal on a penalty corner 31-seconds into the second quarter and then scored her third goal of the year less than three minutes later to give Stonehill a 2-0 lead.

Abigail Campbell, Stonehill (Sr, G - Norfolk, Mass.)
Made two saves to preserve her fifth shutout of the season in Friday night's 4-0 victory for the No. 10-ranked Skyhawks to close out the regular season with their lone game of the week. Both saves came in a scoreless first quarter before Stonehill went on to score twice in the second on their way to the win.

Maddie House, Stonehill (Fr, B - Sanbornton, N.H.)
Keyed a Skyhawks defensive effort that held Southern Connecticut State to just three shots (none after the opening quarter) and one corner in Friday night's 4-0 shutout victory to cap the regular season. She also scored the opening goal, marking the first marker of her collegiate career off a corner 31-seconds into the second quarter.
