Assumption, Franklin Pierce Highlight Weekend Hockey Schedule

South Easton, Mass. – Assumption College will travel to Franklin Pierce University on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. for a Northeast-10 Conference hockey showdown at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. The two teams skated to a 4-4 tie in the only head-to-head matchup this year back on November 16. 

THE MATCHUP: Assumption (9-7-1, 5-1-1 NE-10) has won three in a row over the likes of Suffolk, So. New Hampshire and Stonehill while outscoring opponents 12-6 in those contests. Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce (3-9-4, 2-2-2 NE-10) has gone 2-1-1 over its last four games, earning victories over Suffolk and So. New Hampshire before falling to Framingham State last weekend and skating to a 3-3 tie at Stonehill on Monday night.

PIERCE PRIDE: The contest will be part of the Franklin Pierce athletic department's "Pierce Pride" program, in which all sports teams on campus attend the event.

THE COACHES: For the Greyhounds, head coach Lance Brady is in his fourth season at the helm at Assumption. The same goes for Franklin Pierce head coach Jaymie Harrington, who is in his fourth year with the Ravens.

THE GREYHOUNDS: Senior Taylor Larsen (pictured, right) currently leads the Northeast-10 with 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists this season. Sophomore defenseman Nick Mattiello leads the conference with 10 goals on the year and has added six assists for 16 points. Senior Pat O'Kane has eight goals and seven assists for 15 points, while Kevin Glanzman is second on the team with 11 assists. In net, sophomore Bobby Bowden is first among conference goaltenders with a .936 save percentage and third with a 3.00 goals-against average.  He also set a school record with 69 saves in a 3-2 win at Stonehill on Wednesday night.

THE RAVENS: Sophomore Brandon Dennis (pictured, left) leads the team with 14 points (five goals, nine assists), a mark that is tied for sixth among Northeast-10 leaders. Junior Dino Federico has added five goals and six assists for 11 points, while juniors Michael Carr and Tyler Cornele have tallied nine points apiece. Goaltenders Dave O'Brien (.897 save percentage), Ben Siok (.877) and Pat Dunn (.865) have all seen time in net for Franklin Pierce, as O'Brien has played in seven contests and Siok and Dunn have seen action in six games this year.
