South Easton, Mass. – Saint Anselm College has claimed the regular season crown, and will be the top seed in the upcoming 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Ice Hockey Championship, when it begins this coming Saturday, February 25th.

The Hawks (12-8-5, 3-0-2 NE-10), the two-time defending Northeast-10 Championship winners, will look to make it three-in-a-row in this year's championship.  Saint Anselm skated to a 1-1 tie tonight against Stonehill College earlier tonight to earn the regular season crown.

Assumption College (12-10-1, 7-3-1 NE-10) will be the second seed.  The Ice Dogs still have one game remaining on their regular-season schedule, a non-league tilt against Worcester St. on Thursday night, and will be looking to end a minor two-game losing streak.  Prior to their last two, Assumption had been the hottest team in the NE-10, winning seven of eight games between January and early February.

Stonehill College (9-11-3, 6-3-2 NE-10) has claimed the third seed.  The Skyhawks are the hottest team in the championship heading into the event, as they are 3-0-1 over their last four games, and may just be peaking at the right time.  Under the direction of first year head coach, Pat Leahy, Stonehill, who was picked in a tie for fifth by the coaches prior to the season, will be looking to continue their winning ways when they head to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption in one semifinal showdown on Saturday afternoon.

The fourth-seed in this year's ice hockey championship is awarded to Saint Michael's College.  The Purple Knights (6-17-2, 2-2-1 NE-10), who hosted last year's title game, falling to Saint Anselm 7-4, will be looking to right the ship as they have lost seven straight games heading into postseason play.  Saint Michael's will head to Manchester, N.H. to skate with Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon.
