MLAX Opening Round

No. 3 Pace 16, No. 6 Assumption 8
Box Score

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 7 Pace University men's lacrosse team came to play in the Northeast 10 quarterfinals on Saturday, scoring eight unanswered goals to blast through Assumption University, 16-8, at Northwell Stadium.

Pace advances to the semifinals for a rematch with Saint Anselm College on Wednesday, May 1 at 4 p.m. in Manchester, NH.

Pace's offense ensured that Assumption would never have a shot to pull off an upset. After a quiet opening couple of minutes, Daniel Zabbia took a pass from Collin Reese to start an avalanche of goals. Ryan Kemp followed that up, hooking up with Trevor Lamoruex to bump it up to 2-0. From there, five more goals which lasted until 8:17 in the second quarter, found the back of the cage for Pace to own a 7-1 lead.

With the large lead, any hope of a comeback for Assumption was shattered as four of the next five goals went in favor of Pace to make the score 12-2 halfway through the third quarter.

Kemp was an offensive force, scoring a game-high six goals while assisting on one goal for seven points. Zabbia finished with three goals and two assists while Brian Brennan forced an impressive four turnovers. Maxwell Streety dominated the face off X, going 12-18 while securing seven ground balls.
