FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Panthers & Ravens Secure All Five Major Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 has announced its 2021 Women's Outdoor Track & Field major award winners with Adelphi and Franklin Pierce sweeping all five awards following record-breaking performances for each program.

Adelphi's Gabrielle Buissereth and Katherine Marsh earned the Track Athlete of the Year and Track Rookie of the Year honors while head coach Katie Rees and her staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year. Franklin Pierce's Julieth Nwosu, meanwhile, swept both Field Athlete and Field Rookie of the Year honors, becoming the NE10 female to accomplish that feat.

Buissereth was honored as the Co-Most Outstanding Track Performer at the 2021 NE10 Championships after winning the 400m (56.21), taking second in the 200m (25.67) and anchored the 4x400 relay (3:55.12) to a gold medal. She also earned All-Region honors in the 400m and 4x400. She is the first Adelphi student-athlete to earn this honor.

Marsh was impressive in her first NE10 Championships this year, winning the 800 meters in a time of 2:14.30. She also led the team to a victory in the 4x800 relay by 13 seconds with a time of 9:33.91. She earned All-Region honors in the 800 and the 1500m this year, finishing with the best time in the NE10 in the 800m and the second-best in the 1500m.

Nwosu put together a dominant season in sweeping both Field awards. She was named NE10 Rookie of the Week five straight weeks and Athlete of the Week once. At the NE10 Championships, she claimed gold in the shot put with a throw of 13.30m while taking third in the discus (38.27m). She earned All-Region in both events and ranks 31st nationally in the shot put.

Katie Rees and her staff coached Adelphi to its best finish at the NE10 Outdoor Championships in program history, taking third with 107 points. The Panthers were just seven points away from first place and five from earning second. The rest of the Adelphi coaching staff is made up of Kelvin Campbell, Valmore Holt, Goran Milanovic, Angela Mongitore, Jose Velasquez, Kenneth Coleman, Nicholas Giampietro and Amanda Ashe.
