Bentley Men's Lacrosse Signs William Through Team IMPACT

William Officially Signed with the Bentley Men's Lacrosse Program on November 5.


WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley men's lacrosse head coach Jim Murphy announced a new team member, signing 12-year-old William MacKay through Team IMPACT. William, who was diagnosed with cancer, was officially introduced at a signing day press conference on Sunday, November 5th, on campus. He will participate in many activities with the men's lacrosse team including games, practices, and other team events.

Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.

"Team IMPACT is excited to see William officially join the Falcons," said Emma Simches, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT. "We are proud to work alongside Bentley University, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."

Bentley University has worked with Team IMPACT for the past 12 years, matching 8 children across its football, men's soccer, men's lacrosse, women's basketball, men's ice hockey, and women's field hockey teams.

"We are very excited to have William joining our lacrosse family at Bentley," said Murphy. "He brings energy, excitement, and passion to everyone on the team, we cannot wait for William to embrace his role in making the team and every single one of us better.  It is a great day in the program's history."
