Embrace the Learning: NE10 Announces 2020 Spring Elite 24 Award Winners

Elite 24 Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Three Student-Athletes from Le Moyne Honored.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference is proud to recognize seven student-athletes from spring sports that have earned the prestigious Elite 24 Award – a league honor that recognizes athletes for their incredible work in the classroom.

Le Moyne led all NE10 institutions with three selections, as Ty Syta (baseball), Henry Miller (men’s lacrosse) and Eva Keohane (women’s track & field) achieved the highest grade-point average (GPA) among all student-athletes in their respective sports.

Adelphi’s Alyssa Muller (softball), Franklin Pierce’s Yuval Barak (men’s tennis), Saint Michael’s Ashley Turner (women’s lacrosse) and Stonehill’s Evan Kennedy (men’s track & field) rounded-out the elite group of outstanding student-athletes.

The Elite 24 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site at each NE10 Championship. Due to the shutdown of spring sports because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no league championships were played. Instead, the Elite 24 Award winners were determined by comparing the GPA of all student-athletes throughout the NE10 on a sport-by-sport basis.

Among the group, Keohane and Muller are repeat winners – becoming the second and third NE10 student-athletes to win the award in back-to-back years. Southern Connecticut’s Troy Stegman accomplished the feat at the NE10 Indoor Track Championship in February (also won it in 2019). The NE10’s first year of awarding the Elite 24 was in 2018-19.
