NE10 Baseball Teams of the Week: Adelphi, Stonehill

Adelphi, Stonehill

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 baseball programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

ADELPHI

Coach Dom Scala on his senior class - "I can't express enough my disappointment for some of the seniors that will not have the opportunity to come back and play their last year of NCAA baseball. Fortunately, we do have several student-athletes who will be going to grad school and will be back for 2020-21. However, each of my seniors were striving to play an important role to repeat the successful season we had last year. All of them were ready to go and worked very hard from September to get to that highly-competitive level to compete for an NE10 championship. My staff and I salute these seniors and wish them continued success in their future endeavors."

Season Recap
Adelphi, the reigning NE10 Southwest Division regular season champion, was 4-5 through nine games in the 2020 season prior to the spring's cancellation. In the Panthers' season-opening series, they won two out of three against defending NE10 champion Franklin Pierce in Garden City, N.Y. They beat another league opponent in No. 10 Southern New Hampshire, 1-0, at home on March 7. Lawrence Cicileo led all seniors with a .290 batting average, including seven runs scored and seven RBI. Tom Ambrosino was 1-0 in four appearances on the mound, recording a 1.50 ERA in six innings of work.

STONEHILL

Coach Pat Boen on his senior class – "This group of seniors was as close and together as any group that I have coached. They worked hard and pushed each other to become better. They were also great leaders and commanded respect from the underclassmen. They took the lead at practice, during lifts and at community service projects. They will be missed for their camaraderie and togetherness."
