Week 8 - October 23, 2023

NE10 Player of the Week

Aaron Sanchez Sanchez, Franklin Pierce
Grad | Forward | Coruna, Spain

Aaron Sanchez had a stellar seven point week for the Ravens after he racked up 3 goals and 2 assists to help FPU men's soccer cruise to 12-0-0(7-0-0, NE10). During Friday night's matchup against Assumption, Sanchez dumped in two of the team's 3 goals as the Ravens took down the Greyhounds 3-1. In the game earlier in the week against Felician, Sanchez was again a key cog in the Raven's offense after he scored one goal and tallied an assist in the 5-1 victory.

NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Michael Provenzano, Saint Anselm
Junior  |  Defense  |  Stratham, N.H.

Provenzano was a key player in Saint Anselm's backline that allowed just two goals in two games this week. He recorded his first career assist on the game-winning goal against Saint Michael's College on Tuesday. He then went on to post an assist to help the team improve to 4-3-2 in conference play with a win over AIC.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Daniel De La Heras, Adelphi (Gr., GK - Madrid, Spain)
In a 1-1 week for the Panthers, Daniel De La Heras let up just one goal in 180 minutes of work ... As the playoff picture starts to come into focus, De La Heras posted a minuscule 0.50 goals-against average, with an .833 save percentage ... Stopped both shots he faced in a 2-0 road win at New Haven (Oct. 17) ... Made three more saves over the weekend at Saint Rose (Oct. 21).

Evan Levine, Bentley (Gr., M - Boca Raton, Fla.)
Levine was Bentley's leading scorer in a 1-0-1 week for the Falcons.  He scored in the fifth minute of Tuesday's 2-2 tie at AIC. Levine then matched his career-high with five points in Saturday's 6-3 victory over New Haven. He opened the scoring in the 20th minute, scored Bentley's 4th goal in the 55th and assisted on the 6th goal.

Aitor Cuenca Retuerto, Franklin Pierce (Gr., D - Bilbao, Spain)
Aitor Cuenca was an offensive and defensive threat for the Ravens this week. On the defensive side of the ball, he helped keep scoring opportunities from the opposition limited to just two goals through two games. On the other end of the field, Cuenca scored a goal in the team's 5-1 victory over Felician and then chipped in an assist during the Raven's 3-1 win over Assumption.

Samuel Assantha, Saint Anselm (Jr., M/F - Bukava, D.R.)
Assantha tallied a brace and an assist to lift Saint Anselm past American International College in a 3-2 thriller on Saturday. He registered the game-winning assist in the final minute of the game, his third assist of the season, and posted his first two scores of the year as well. The Hawks are now 4-3-2 in conference play after capturing two NE10 victories over this past week.

Luke Hanchar, Bentley (Jr., D - New City, N.Y.)
Hanchar played all 180 minutes at fullback in a four-point week for Bentley. He scored in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with AIC, then played the full 90 in a driving rain storm in Saturday's 6-3 victory over New Haven.

David Hood, Saint Anselm (So., GK - Manchester, N.H.)
Hood had a strong performance in net for the Hawks after playing two full games and helping the team improve to 4-3-2 in conference play. He picked up his third shutout of the season against Saint Michael's College on Tuesday posting two saves. Hood also made four crucial saves versus American International College to help Saint Anselm secure their fourth league win over the Yellow Jackets.

Yannick Hilpert, Southern Connecticut State (Jr., M - Den Haag, The Netherlands)
Owls junior Yannick Hilpert led Southern with three goals in two games. Hilpert scored once against Assumption in a 4-0 win on the road and then followed with a two-goal outing at home against Southern New Hampshire in a 3-1 win. He currently leads the Owls with three goals for the year.

Perez set the tone with his first goal just 2:33 into the contest and then sent the Penmen to the locker room with a 2-0 lead with another tally just 3:12 before the break.
