Le Moyne, Adelphi Advance to Semifinals of NE10 Women's Tennis Championship

Women's Tennis - First Round Recap 2022

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

NE10 Semifinals Scheduled for Friday.

MANSFIELD, Mass. - No. 3 Le Moyne and No. 5 Adelphi cruised to victories in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Wednesday to advance to Friday's semifinals. The Dolphins blanked No. 6 Saint Anselm, 4-0, while the Panthers ousted No. 4 New Haven, 4-1.

Le Moyne will travel to play No. 2 Franklin Pierce - the two-time reigning NE10 champion - and Adelphi will visit top-seeded Southern New Hampshire - the NE10 regular season champion. Both matches will begin at 2 p.m. The two winners will play on Sunday in the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship final.

(3) Le Moyne 4, (6) Saint Anselm 0 – Box Score

DEWITT, N.Y. - The Le Moyne women's tennis team earned its sixth consecutive berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinals with a 4-0 victory in the first round over sixth-seeded Saint Anselm on Wednesday afternoon at Elevate Fitness.

With the victory, the Dolphins (9-4) advance to the NE10 semifinals for the sixth straight year (and sixth time in the program's history) and will face second-seeded Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H. on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

"It's always great to host matches in our conference tournament," said head coach Jeff Lonczak. "We really enjoyed the support of the department. On the court, we were able to overcome some nerves to prevail in doubles and handle business in singles. We're really looking forward to a rematch with Franklin Pierce for a berth in the finals."

(5) Adelphi 4, (4) New Haven 1 – Box Score

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 5 seed Adelphi women's tennis team got a key piece of its line-up back just in time for the start of the NE10 Championship.

With the return of Barbie Quagliardi, the Panthers knocked off No. 4 seed New Haven, 4-1, in a first-round contest Wednesday at the UNH Tennis Courts.

Adelphi now moves onto the semifinal round, where it will look to take down the top seed for a second-straight year. This time, the Panthers are going head-to-head with Southern New Hampshire. Last fall, the Panthers -- as a No. 4 seed -- shocked top-seeded Le Moyne College on the road, to the tune of a 4-0 result.
