Franklin Pierce Holds Lead in NE10 Presidents' Cup Standings After Fall Season

PC Update - Fall 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ravens Captured Regular Season Titles in Men's and Women's Soccer.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Franklin Pierce enters the winter season with a narrow lead in the 2022-23 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings after capturing regular season championships in both men's and women's soccer, as well as a league title in women's golf for the fourth-consecutive season.

Four NE10 institutions are within eight points of each other at the top of the Presidents' Cup standings, with Franklin Pierce holding a 3.5-point edge over second-place Adelphi (76.0) and a 5.5-point lead over third-place Southern New Hampshire (74.0). Assumption, the NE10 football champion, sits in fourth at 72.0 points.

The NE10 Presidents' Cup is presented annually at the conclusion of the academic year, signifying overall athletic excellence in the league. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based on finishes in the regular season standings from all of its programs competing in league championships.

Franklin Pierce looks to claim its first full-year NE10 Presidents' Cup in school history, as previously the Ravens were named seasonal champions in the spring of 2021 when the award was separated into seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the spring of 2021 as the exception, the Ravens have never finished higher than fourth place. In addition to maximum point totals in men's soccer, women's soccer and women's golf, Franklin Pierce also finished second in both men's cross country and women's tennis.

Adelphi tallied top-three finishes in field hockey, women's cross country, women's soccer and volleyball to finish second following the fall season. Southern New Hampshire, the 2021-22 NE10 Presidents' Cup winner, sits third after winning the NE10 women's cross country title and other top-three finishes in men's golf and women's tennis.

Assumption, who sits in fourth, won the NE10 football title for the first time since 2017, in addition to winning the men's golf title and earning a share of the regular season championship in field hockey.

SNHU is the reigning Presidents' Cup champion, while Adelphi and Bentley rounded-out the top three in the 2021-22 standings.
