Franklin Pierce & Le Moyne To Face-Off in NE10 Championship 


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Top seeded Franklin Pierce put up seven goals for the second game in a row during a 7-1 victory over No. 4 SNHU. The Ravens now have 14 goals in the NE10 tournament and will face No. 7 Le Moyne who pulled off yet another overtime upset in the NE10 Semifinal round, in the NE10 Championship this weekend.

The Ravens will host the Dolphins for the Northeast-10 Championship on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Franklin Pierce is making their third-consecutive NE10 Championship game appearance, while Le Moyne is making its first NE10 Championship appearance since 2016. The regular season match-up between the two teams ended in a 0-0 tie - making Le Moyne the only team Franklin Pierce did not beat this season.

RINDGE, N.H. - The Ravens broke through on the scoreboard at the 7:23 mark of the opening half when graduate Miguel Secades Rodrigues scored off a give-and-go passing play between Braudilio Rodrigues and Jonas Cervera Anchel. Just over eight minutes later, the Penman tied the game on a long ball shot from junior midfielder Luca Shubitidze, only to see the Raven lead restored by Cervera Anchel in the 20th minute. Towards the latter stages of the first half, the Ravens would continue to add to their lead with goals from graduates Jero Ferrando Ferri and Javier Gutierrez, with each originating off of short-side centering passes by Rodrigues. The Ravens would carry their 4-1 advantage into the second half.

Just over four minutes into the second half, Braudilio Rodrigues changed things up a bit with a goal to push the Raven lead to 5-1, netting his 17th of the season. With the match already out of hand, Franklin Pierce continued to pile on the offense with another goal in the 58th minute by Jonas Cervera Anchel, who sent a shot top corner after a cut-in move inside the box. With the score at 6-1, the Ravens would add one more strike with just five seconds remaining on the game clock from senior Joao Valente, who sent a shot into a wide-open goal to cap the offense at 7-1.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The two sides were tied 0-0 after the initial 90 minutes, and the score remained the same after two 10-minute overtime periods.

Le Moyne graduate goalkeeper Josh Mahr tallied three saves in regulation and one in overtime to record his fifth shutout of the season, then he recorded three massive saves during the penalty kick shootout to put Le Moyne in position to win on their fourth kick. The shutout is the 21st of his career, which moves him past Tim Mann '05 for fourth on program's career record board.

2022 NE10 Third Team All-Conference selections Jack Goodrich and Ben Quigley both converted crucial PKs for the 'Phins, then Terence Crysler-Howard scored the fourth penalty kick for Le Moyne to end the match and put the Dolphins through to the NE10 Championship game.

* In the mini-conference between Assumption, Saint Rose & SNHU, Assumption earned the #3 seed based on a 2-0 record within the mini-conference. Saint Rose & SNHU were both 0-1-1 within the mini-conference and played to a tie in their regular season contest. When looking at results vs. common opponents, both teams have the same record (5-3-3). When looking at results vs. the highest seeded teams, both lost to Franklin Pierce and both beat Adelphi. SNHU eared the #4 seed based on a win vs. SCSU; Saint Rose played to a tie against SCSU.

** Le Moyne earned the #7 seed based on their head-to-head win over Bentley during the regular season.
