FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Six Different Institutions Represented.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference recognized seven outstanding student-athletes from the fall season as Sport Excellence Award winners on Thursday afternoon, honoring their remarkable achievements in both athletic and academic settings.

Among the 102 student-athletes named to the NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams last week, the Sport Excellence Award is given to one top individual from each of the league's seven fall sports. Six different institutions were represented in the announcement, with only American International earning multiple honors.

Among the winners of one of the Conference's most prestigious awards are three student-athletes that won NE10 Player of the Year recognition: AIC's Andrea Serra Rosa (Volleyball Player of the Year), New Haven's Connor Degenhardt (Football Offensive Player of the Year) and Southern New Hampshire's Ashley Corcoran (Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year).

Additional honorees are American International's Jason Beaver (men's cross country), Franklin Pierce's Bernardo Prego (men's soccer), Saint Anselm's Jackie Gaumer (field hockey) and Saint Rose's Mia Klammer (women's soccer). Each athlete was an All-Conference selection following the fall season.

For Beaver and Corcoran, it is their third time winning a Sport Excellence Award. Beaver has won it twice for men's cross country and once in men's indoor track & field, while Corcoran has won it once in women's cross country, women's indoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field.

Three of the seven winners - Gaumer, Klammer and Serra Rosa - earned All-America honors in 2022.

To be eligible for Academic All-Conference and Sport Excellence honors, a student-athlete must have started at least half or played in two-thirds of all contests while making significant contributions and maintaining a 3.3 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
