The University of New Haven and Southern Connecticut State University advanced to the semifinal round of the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Softball Championship with wins earlier tonight in Manchester, N.H.

Senior Alyssa Downs hit two home runs to lead a late-inning offensive explosion for the Owls. Trailing 3-1 heading into the sixth inning, So. Connecticut scored eleven runs in the last two innings en route to the second round victory.
So. Connecticut will now take on top-seeded Adelphi University tomorrow in one semifinal matchup at 4 p.m. on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.

Northeast-10 Player of the Year Christina Gelardi, pictured, went 2-3 at the plate and scored both of the Chargers' runs to send New Haven into the semifinal round of the 2013 Softball Championship.
The teams were tied at one after the first inning and would stay that way until the bottom of the fifth when Gelardi would score what would turn out to be the game winning run. Stonehill had an opportunity in the top of the seventh but stranded two runners to end the game.
New Haven will take on top-seeded So. New Hampshire tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
