GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Breanne Nasti has been named Head Coach of the Adelphi University softball team on Thursday, August 16, 2012 as announced by Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Robert E. Hartwell. Nasti becomes just the eighth coach in program history and inherits a team that appeared in the NCAA East Regional last spring.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to return to Long Island and take over a prestigious program with a great history," stated Nasti. "I'm also proud to work for a University that is an elite Division II institution. Being a native of Long Island I cannot wait to get back and get in the office. I also have to thank Mr. Hartwell and everyone at Adelphi for the opporunity to guide such an outstanding program."

Prior to coming to Adelphi Nasti spent four years at Stony Brook University as a hitting instructor and outfield coach, under her tutelage, the Seawolves offense hit for power, averaging 33 home runs and more than 68 doubles a season, and for average, posting the then highest team batting average since joining the Division I ranks in 2009 (.299).

“We had an extremely experienced and qualified applicant pool and absolutely selected a coach who is in line with the traditions of Adelphi University softball,” Hartwell stated. “I am excited to have Breanne on staff and look forward to her continuing the excellence our softball program has achieved recently and in the past.”

In 2009, Stony Brook set school records in RBI (231), runs (251), doubles (79), stolen baes (75) and slugging percentage (.475). Under Nasti they also set records for sacrifices (62) and hit-by-pitch (46).
Before coming to Stony Brook, Nasti was an assistant coach at St. John's. Prior to St. John's, Nasti spent one season at Hofstra. During her lone year with the Red Storm, Nasti helped St. John's earn a spot in the Big East Tournament and to a 27-30 overall record.

In her one year stop at Hofstra Nasti helped coach the Pride to a 43-16-1 record. Hofstra finished the season as champions of the Colonial Athletic Association and as Region 12 finalists.

A 2004 graduate of Buffalo with a degree in psychology, Nasti owns virtually every Bulls' offensive record. She was a four-year letterwinner and a three-time all-region honoree as well as a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection.

Nasti left Buffalo as the all-time leader in average (.387), home runs (27), RBI (113), hits (197), doubles (46), triples (7), runs (93) and walks (66). In 2002, she set the UB and MAC single season record with a .451 batting average. Nasti also performed well in the classroom, earning Academic All-District I from 2002-2004, Academic All-MAC in 2003 and the SUNY Chancellor's Award in 2004. She was also a three-time UB Scholar-Athlete.

A native of Baldwin, New York, Nasti, earned her master's degree from Fresno State and was a three-time high school All-American and holds the single season national high school record with a .774 batting average. Nasti has worked many camps including Julie Bolduc's Pro-Pitch Camp, the Adelphi Softball Camp, Hofstra Softball Clinic, Molloy Baseball Camp and the Stony Brook Softball Camp.
