Le Moyne, Pace Grab Wins on First Day of NE10 Baseball Championship Weekend

Franklin Pierce and Bentley to Play in Elimination Game on Friday Morning.


SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Le Moyne and Pace both earned shut out victories on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship Weekend, leaving Franklin Pierce and Bentley to play in an elimination game on Friday morning as part of three games scheduled at Dick Rockwell Field on the second day of the double-elimination tournament.  

Top-seeded Le Moyne blanked No. 2-seeded Franklin Pierce, 8-0, while No. 3-seeded Pace defeated No. 4-seeded Bentley, 7-0, behind dominant pitching performances. Le Moyne's Sam DiGeorge threw seven scoreless frames and Pace's Patrick Gleason hurled a complete-game shutout to lead the teams to wins on Thursday. 

Franklin Pierce and Bentley will play Friday at 10 a.m. Le Moyne and Pace will play at 1 p.m. The winner of the first game and the loser of the second game will play again at approximately 4 p.m. All games during Championship Weekend will be streamed live on NE10NOW.tv

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior outfielder Zach Brush went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBI to lead the charge for Le Moyne's offense in a dominant 8-0 win over Franklin Pierce on Thursday in the NE10's Baseball Championship Weekend. Senior pitcher Sam DiGeorge pitched seven scoreless innings and scattered just four hits in the winning effort. 

Le Moyne got off to a fast start against Franklin Pierce junior pitcher Kyle Roche and never looked back, as Brush blasted a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Dolphins an early lead. Roche settled in and allowed just four earned runs on six hits in seven innings of work, but Le Moyne scored four more runs in the eighth on RBI hits from Brush and freshman Adam Sullivan to seal the victory. 

DiGeorge had four strikeouts and two walks on the mound for Le Moyne, as he picked up his sixth win on the season. 

Le Moyne will play Pace, the winner of Thursday's second game, on Friday at 1 p.m. 


(3 SW) Pace 7, (4 NE) Bentley 0 - Box Score

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Pace University baseball team defeated Bentley University on the first day of the NE10's Baseball Championship Weekend, defeating the Falcons, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field. 

Senior pitcher Patrick Gleason was the story of the day. In the biggest game of the season, Gleason threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout to lead the Setters (31-18, 9-11 NE10) to victory as Pace continues its quest for a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He tallied nine strikeouts and five walks on the day. 

Josh Miller and Mitch McCabe each had a pair of hits for the Setters, while Anthony Labita delivered the final blow with a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to stretch the lead to seven runs. 

Pace will play top-seeded Le Moyne on Friday at 1 p.m., while Bentley looks to stave off elimination when it plays Franklin Pierce at 10 a.m.
