Baseball All-Region 2023

NCBWA RELEASE | D2CCA RELEASE

NE10 with 17 Players Earning 28 All-Region Selections.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire, the No. 10 ranked team in Division II, earned four major awards when the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced their All-Region baseball honors, as part of the Northeast-10 Conference's widespread recognition among its East Region counterparts.

SNHU's Nick Schwartz, the NE10 Northeast Division Player of the Year, was elected East Region Player of the Year in both the D2CCA and NCBWA releases. He was joined by his teammate Jeffrey Praml, who won D2CCA East Region Pitcher of the Year, and his coach Scott Loiseau, who earned NCBWA East Region Coach of the Year. Overall, SNHU had four players earn All-Region honors - the most among all NE10 programs.

Pace's Patrick Gleason also took home a major honor, as he won NCBWA East Region Pitcher of the Year - following his NE10 Championship Most Outstanding Player award after the Setters won their first conference title in program history.

The NE10 had 17 players earn 28 All-Region selections, with seven different institutions represented on the D2CCA and NCBWA teams. American International and Franklin Pierce were close behind SNHU with three All-Region selections each, while Le Moyne, Pace and Southern Connecticut all had two. Assumption added one selection.

Schwartz helped lead the Penmen into the East Super Regional this weekend with his .400 batting average - second-best among NE10 players - along with 12 home runs and a league-leading 64 RBI this season. His slugging percentage of .733 is also the top mark in the NE10. He was named First Team All-Conference, in addition to his Player of the Year honor.

Praml, the Northeast Division Pitcher of the Year, has racked up a 10-3 record in 13 starts with a 2.50 ERA for the Penmen. He has a 72-25 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his league-leading 90 innings on the mound this season. Gleason, the Southwest Division Pitcher of the Year, was 8-2 in 11 starts this season while posting a dominant 1.81 ERA. He allowed just 15 earned runs in 74.2 innings of work.

Loiseau led SNHU to its sixth-consecutive Northeast Division title with a remarkable 23-1 record in conference play this season - catapulting the team into the top 10 of the NCBWA Division II rankings. SNHU recently cruised through East Regional #1 and will host the East Super Regional this weekend against Le Moyne. The Penmen currently have a 40-11 record overall.

Schwartz and Praml - as well as SNHU's Cam Caraher and Danniel Rivera and AIC's Jackson Haker and Josh Frometa - earned First Team All-Region honors from both the D2CCA and NCBWA.
