NE10 Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Cady, Assumption
Senior | Quarterback | Saint Johnsbury, Vt.
Cady was 12-for-16 through the air for 157 yards and two touchdowns. The duel-threat QB added 86 yards on the ground, including a 21-yard touchdown scamper.
NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Edward Allen, Assumption
Senior | Defensive Lineman | Upper Marlboro, Md.
Allen was a force up front for the Greyhounds. The defensive tackle had five tackles, 3.5 for a loss, a forced fumble, and one sack. His 3.5 tackles for loss resulted in -16 yards for Saint Anslem.
NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week
Patrick Carroll, Saint Anselm
Sophomore | Kicker | Stafford, Va.
Sophomore Patrick Carroll racked up all 12 of his team's points on Senior Day against Assumption, making four field goals and matching the program record for longest field goal made with a 49-yard boot heading into halftime (Erol Senel '03 at Bryant, Oct. 19, 2002). He also matched the single-season record with 10 field goals, equaling the record held by Shane Grayson '16 (10-for-13, 2014) and Michael Garcarz '07 (10-for-16, 2003). Carroll also converted attempts from 31, 33 and 28 yards, setting a team record for field goals made in regulation time. Daniel Parisi '19 made four field goals in a triple-overtime thriller against Stonehill on Sept. 8, 2018. He now has 15 field goals made, taking outright possession of fourth place on the career leaderboard for Saint Anselm.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Andreas Picarelli, SCSU
Freshman | Punter | Yonkers, N.Y.
First-year punter Andreas Picarelli had a record-setting afternoon in the Owls' 44-7 win against Post. He had just two punts on the day, but dropped one from 84 yards inside the 10. Picarelli's 84-yard punt is the longest in Southern Connecticut history and likely ranks among the all-time longest punts in NCAA Division II history, if that record existed, as it would stand as the third-longest in NCAA Division I history.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Gabriel Bertolazzo, Assumption (So., P - Winter Garden, Fla.)
Bertolazzo had four punts for 155 yards, which averaged 38.8 yards per punt. He had a career-long punt of 58 yards, which increased his season total of 50+ yard punts to seven.
Mark Waid, Bentley (Gr., QB - Cortland, Ohio)
Waid rushed for 124 yards on 15 carries, an average of 8.3 per rush, and completed 10 of 19 passes for 106 yards and Bentley?s only TD in an 18-10 loss to American International. Waid, with his third 100-yard game of the season, moved to second in the conference in rushing yards with 676.
Connor Degenhardt, New Haven (Gr., QB - Westford, Mass.)
Degenhardt finished his final home game on the Blue Turf with 337 passing yards and six touchdowns, while completing 74.2 percent of his pass attempts (23-of-31). His six TD passes went to five different players with the lone Charger to twice be the beneficiary being tight end Kevin Foelsch. The longest pass of the day for Degenhardt went in the books at 66 yards, a TD haul for Dev Holmes.
Terrell Ford, New Haven (Gr., WR - Tonawanda, N.Y.)
Ford picked up his second school record of the season on Saturday when he ran back his second kick off of the season, this time from one-yard deep in the end zone. The, officially, 100-yard return goes down as the longest in school history with the previous long being 97 yards in 2012. In addition, Ford caught four passes for 51 yards, finishing his day with 151 all-purpose yards.
Syzmon Gawlick, Saint Anselm (So., K - Newton, Mass.)
In a 44-7 rout of Post, Gawlick had three field goals and five point-after attempts to account for 14 of the Owls' points. Gawlick converted on tries from 18, 24 and 19 yards.With his 14-point showing against the Eagles, Gawlick is now fourth in the NE10 with 45 points for the season and is tied for third in extra-points made.
Anthony Ligi, Southern Conn. St. (Gr., RB - Wolcott, Conn.)
In a 44-7 win against Post, the Owls rushed for a season-best 307 yards. Anthony Ligi led all ball carriers with 13 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown, averaging 8.5 yards per carry with a 31-yard rush in the mix. Ligi also had one catch for two yards in the game. It was Southern's second 100-yard day of the season and career-bests for Ligi.
